Looking for a great educational experience close to home? The Des Moines region will be taking a trip to Nebraska Aquitcs to celebrate their 2nd Anniversary with them. We will be leaving Saturday September 14th in the morning to head up there. The plan will be to meet at one location and car pool!

    - Rich Ross for the Stienhart Aquarium in San Fransisco and Cephlapod expert will be one of their speakers. He is also the Master of Ceremonies at this years MACNA if anyone is heading down to Florida.

-Joe Yaiullo from the Long Island Aquarium in New York will be speaker number two! Joe put together and maintains one of, if not the largest private reef tank coming in at 20,000 gallons. Joe is also presenting at this years MACNA.

-Sanjay Joshi from Penn State University, who is considered the lighting guru in the aquarium hobby and has done some amazing research in this area will also be speaking. He also keeps Discus and is becoming known for his Photon Clownfish that he's breeding. He is another presenter at this years MACNA.

-Mitch Carl from the Omaha Zoo Aquarium

There are still some final details but this years anniversary party looks be another can't miss educational event. They will have food, beer, soda, give aways, raffles and working to get a few vendor reps to come answer specific product questions.

5:00- 6:00 Rich Ross was asked to do whatever talk he enjoys doing the most. he is super entertaining no matter what he presents.

I'm planning to go! I went last year, and it was a great event. If you didn't make it to MACNA and want to hear 4 great speakers in one setting, here's you chance!.

If anyone is interested in car pooling from Des Moines - post here.

    Hey guys,

Haven't seen a lot of interest in this, but it is coming up! In order for us to be able to give away items at this event we need to get several more people involved!

Please let Beckerj3 know if you are going! This is a great educational experience!

Keep it coming guys! Would love to have a great turn out for this educational experience! If we can make trips like this work, we can look at scheduling a tour of the zoo this next year as a part of our meeting schedule!

I am definitely going. I will drive or will pitch in for gas, if someone else wants to drive. Either way works fine with me.

Those interested in car pooling, please post....

eeh gads, well it looks like we are going to be super tight on time this weekend...but nonetheless, we are going to try our best to come but it looks like we will have to drive separate and we may miss the 'open' time slot.

Is there a place we can get more information on the location, times, check-in's?, and such?

Zoobie - My plan/suggestion would be to leave between 10:15 - 10:30. It's a 2 hr drive there from my house. So that would put us at Nebraska Aquatics around 12:15 - 12:30. Plenty of time to check out the store specials, talk with the experts that are there, and have lunch before the 1st speaker at 2pm. My preference would also be to leave around 6pm and skip the last speaker. That would put us back in Des Moines at 8pm. We can meet at my house, or elsewhere, depending on who wants to carpool - and what seems to be most convenient. If we meet at my house, its a straight shot to take Grand out west (which becomes hwy 169) and meets up with I80 at the 106 mile marker.

How does that sound to you for timing?? As of now, I'll plan that we're carpooling together - and we can see who else wants to join us.
