I want to say thanks to Kyle Potter and the guys around IA City for lining up the upcoming DIY meeting.

I am recently back from MACNA 2013, and looking forward to being part of this meeting!

If you want to see what DIY LED lighting has to offer or just curious

what makes your commercial fixtures work, then I suggest to come to this meeting.

If you are interested in making an LED light, then this meeting is especially for you.

We are going to run through the basic components, simplify the necessary parts and numbers, and demonstrate what LEDs are capable of doing for you.

If you have components and questions, feel free to bring them with.

I am going to bring a new MakersLED product we previewed at MACNA. A driver capable of driving 75 3W LEDs along with 5 channels of control.

To help promote club membership, MakersLED is offering paying GIRS members with DIY Meeting pricing on MakersLED products:

Bumping this up for anyone interested. This is a great opportunity to pick up some components for your very own LED build at great prices.

  14. Hi Probably a dumb question and since I am very new to the reef world I hope you all understand. I am very interested in the meeting and learning to build a led light my self however with not knowing much about the lighting in general its very hard for me to feel like I am picking out the correct item to purchase for the meeting the last thing I want to do is not have everything to build or have incorrect parts I don't need. any advice I have a 75 gallon tank 48" long standard size

    Jim,

Many different sites have ideas and build guide lines to follow, but the best thing to do is give Andy from MakersLed a pm and see what he thinks.

Here are a few links to look at, but you can also do a quick search online for some help also. This is the #1 reason why we are doing this informational meeting so people will better understand the process of making a DIY Led fixture.

    Hope this helps some!
