There is a great article on Reef Builders about Mike Paletta and how club members used to always give away or trade with other club members.

    Good read

I've made great trades with other GIRS members. One of the best things about this hobby.

I remember the good old days of the club where everyone knew each other and could call for a favor at the drop of a dime. Everyone traded, corals, equipment, time and labor. Those were the days

Let's get back to those days! I have basically nothing to give yet, but once I do I would love to frag trade, or when equipment gets upgraded pass it along

Yep. I remember when our frag swaps were free, just a few tables. People pretty much gave frags away.

I cant remember anything going for more than 10$-15$ unless it was a colony or something.

I remember when gas was 90 cents lol... prices go up.... I'm sure all of us are willing to trade things as long as the other person has something that is wanted or needed by the other person. Our shows got bigger which in turn the cost for space went up.

Oh I know, wasnt complaining or anything. Times change. While Im at it though, what happened to beef prices? Come on!

Glaspie, didn't you help setup a frag swap in Independence a while back? I seem to remember driving out there at some point. I think I bought my first SPS from Bob that day.

I 100% agree with glaspie69 but I am afraid those days are done. But I would be willing to help bring them BACK.

I think that is a neat idea. I was never in the hobby long enough to know about the free trade concept but it is a friendly idea. I think it was Face Book where someone was practically begging people to take some Kenya tree frags.

I think we should try a frag swap event where people swap for the price they feel is right for a frag. If you bring 5 frags you believe are worth $10 each you can trade them for 5 different frags for $10 each or 1 frag someone prices at $50. No money trades hands just corals or maybe equipment. it can be up to the individual if they are willing to offer free frags or cut the price at the time of the swap.

Would something like this work or are people too afraid of swapping infected frags?

Or to pay it forward with frags, Armydog hooked me up (and has some pretty BA frags for sale) so when I get the chance to frag these frags, I'm definitely going to pay it forward to a new reefer!
