Filter Sock Group Buy

    Just thought I would check and see if others might be interested in a filter sock group buy similar to what's been done in the past? I can't remember who was in charge of the order last time I was involved (Turbos'Aquatics maybe?), but it worked out great. Mine are getting to show some serious wear, and I'd like to place an order for another group. Anyone else interested?

    Can do. I just bought 100 of the 4"x8" for my scrubbers and I have a decent amount of 4x14 and some 7x16 still.

    Not sure if Strainrite makes square frames


    This is the catalog I go by. They can make any length. The standard filter sock that is used for aquariums would be:


    AP-[micron]-P-[size]-P


    Micron size is typically 200, some want 100. 200 is not listed but is available


    Sock size is typically one of three: #1, #3, or #4, with #4 being by far the most common. I have all 3 of these in 200 micron.


    Custom sizes are available as long as you order 10 or more. All of these are right around $3/ea shipped, give or take $0.50.

    So 4x14 would be 3 each ?

    So what are the sizes of the socks? I use aqueon proflex sumps with 4 inch diameter socks.

    I use the same type of sump. I believe the socks are 4" x 11". If I remember correctly, I ended up ordering that size as a special order last time. It was no problem as long as you ordered at least 10. I will be ordering more than 10 of that size, so you could just add whatever you wanted to that, no problem.

    I highlighted the link to the catalog in my last post.

    4x11, yes hajas that's what you got, Mcclandy got some 7x10 custom as well one time. minimum of 10 and it doesn't cost 'extra' it's all based on material & labor.

    Last time around pricing, which has not changed:

    4x14 200m $3
    4x11 200m $3
    4x8 200m $2.65
    7x16 200m $3.25

    That price includes shipping to me and local distribution. Shipping to each individual skyrockets the ship cost. Caribbean was better about that but they aren't around anymore /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif

    the 4x11 are a custom size so it's a minimum 10

    Well I just need to get my stuff together!! I have been meaning to check on what I have on hand and post here, keep forgetting.

    hajas, what is your cleaning procedure? As long as they don't have holes / tears, they should not clog up faster over time.

    I typically turn them inside out and rinse them off. Then I throw them in the washer with a little bleach, rinse them again and air dry. That seems to work well for several cycles, but over time the material frays and they need changed more often. This is over a year plus in the making though, so not totally unexpected.

    I have a whole box of 7 x 14 MESH ones. 1.00 each. They were given to Boone and they can not use them.

    Ok I have only 7 of the 4x14 200 micron and 9 of the 7x16 200 micron. Matt already spoke for the 7x16s but he needs a few more.

    I have a full box of 100 4x8's, a couple dozen of these are spoken for but that leaves ~70

    Anything else we would need to order, let's shoot for next Monday?
