Springfest 2020 - Cancelled

We regret to inform you that the fairgrounds has canceled all events including Springfest scheduled for this Sunday the 22nd. We will explore options of rescheduling and provide you with updates.

GIRS and CEACich want to ensure the safety of all Spring Fest vendors, administration, and attendees.

We are moitoring the COVID-19 outbreak, and there is now a risk of community spread in the Greater Des Moines area. The mayor of Des Moines has declared a state of emergency banning events with over 250 attendees. The CDC is not recommending gatherings of over 50 persons for the next eight weeks excluding work and schools.

Attached is the message we received from the fairgrounds this morning:

Out of an abundance of caution for the people we serve, we respectfully comply with the order of the Governor, the City of Des Moines and recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to limit social gatherings and therefore will be cancelling or postponing non-fairtime events on the Iowa State Fairgrounds until further notice. By doing this, we understand we can play a vital role in helping stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus and keep Iowans healthy and safe.

We value our relationship with you and are saddened to change your plans. Please know that we will work with you to reschedule your event if possible.
