I recently put together a 37 column build that I thought I would share. Not as big and spectacular as many of the other builds on here but I have had fun piecing it together this summer.

I am not great at regularly posting things so I am compressing a few months into one post.

    Build goes as this

    Marineland 37 column tank

Custom built stand and canopy (Thanks Kyle!)

    DIY 10 gallon sump

DIY 28 LED setup (Steves LEDs and RapidLED)

    aqueon 3000 return pump

    DIY upflow Algae scrubber

    koralia evolution 750

    koralia nano 450

    ehiem jager 125w heater

Here is a picture of what I started with:

First order of buisiness was to replace that old stand. Kyle built me a nice stand and canopy for the setup.

Here is the "buisiness end" of the stand

    With the pretty stuff prestaining:

After a few coats of stain:

Next I needed to replace the old odyssea mh halide light that the tank came with. I got 7 Neutral White, 2 Cool white, 10 Royal Blue, 1 Red, 1 Cyan LEDS and corresponding drivers from Steves LEDS and 6 UV leds and a heatsink from RapidLED. 90 degree optics were used on all the lights.

    Here it is during testing:

Next I painted the back of the tank black and had it drilled by Hung at Sea of Marvels with dual 1 inch overflows

    Here is my plumbing job:

After a leak test I got 29 lbs of dry rock from a store in the chicagoland area. (Reefwise... If anyone is driving through the area I highly reccomend checking it out)

I also got 30 pounds of cured live rock from a local reefer.(Thanks Will!)

Here is initial setup of the tank:

Edit: Pictures working for me now.

Tagging along as I've had one of these tanks for 4 years now and havent gotten around to setting it up! (would help if my brother would finish the custom stand he promised me as a Christmas gift way back when).

Looks good, i'm about to do the finishing touches in my 47 column tank and will have a build thread before too long. I'm jealous of your tank being able to drill, mine was all tempered and u had to bust out the back and install a new panel!

As a recommendation, you can redo those overflow standpipes by painting them black so they're hidden. Just get some krylon fusion spray paint and let it dry for a week. It'll really make a big difference...

What type of overflow setup is that? Any pics of the sump? Nice looking tank!

Thanks for the comments everyone! The overflow uses two 1 inch stand pipes, one operates in full siphon and the other is there for redundancy. The photos I posted are about 3 weeks old and I have changed it around a little bit since then. I will try and get some more pictures tonight.
