Yes, Acan Lords are one of the few corals that can "nest" :-0) They should be fine touching.

 

I thought so but wanted to double check before I put them next to each other. Thank for the help

 

I got a couple of acans at the show too, and I was wondering, if I'm target feeding, do I need to make sure Every polyp gets fed? How often should I target feed? Also, how in the world do I feed a hammer coral? Where, exactly, is its mouth?

Not really. It helps but they are going to get a lot of nutrient from the water column. What I do is mix up some coral frenzy with a little cyclopseeze, turn all my pumps off, and simple dust them all with my turkey baster. You do not need to go crazy because they can only eat so much. The acans in my tank grow like crazy and pop out a new baby probably once a month.

 

Macro feeder by New Life spectrum is awesome for spot feeding Acans and even have some customers feeding zoanthids with it. http://fragtasticreef.com/New-Life-...Feeder.htm


Yes Acans can be placed by each other just keep away from other corals about 2".  However if they are different species of Acans be careful and make sure to keep your eye on them also, some can be much more aggressive than others.

 

It's nice to feed each polyp but if you miss one, it will be okay.  I wouldn't feed more than twice a week if you are wanting them to grow quickly.  If you feed too often/much, your water params will go wild/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/crazy.gif  Fauna Marin Zoa food, reef chili, new life spectrum (tiny pellets), cyclopeeze...the food just needs to be vey small/tiny for them to eat.  The hammer's mouth is in the center...when it's retracted you will see it.  Again small food, brine, etc. it will eat but will get most of it's energy from its zooanthellie or catch food floating in the water during fish feeding.  Generally speaking, some people do not feed their corals directly as the coral will get their nourishment from the zooanth's, nitrates, zooplankton, etc...  I prefer to feed but it is micro/very small food...usually powder looking to the eye, cyclopeeze and/or brine./DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif
