I just took home a red gorgonian and wanted to know if anyone has any tips or tricks for getting it to extend its polyps?
Right now it is receiving a good amount of indirect flow from an mp10
And I am feeding Cromamax, phytomax and zoomax by kent and Black powder by marc weiss (idk if the black powder is any good, but I wanted to test it)
    Water parameters are
    Nh3- 0
    No2- 0
    No3- 0.75
    Alk- 9
    Specific gravity 1.024
    Temp- 75 F.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Patrick

Weiss products = **** (largely agreed upon by everyone in the community) Your parameters and everything are totally fine, give it some time, they are bashful about opening up after being moved, reduce the amount of flow it gets, and the amount of light if possible. I don't care much for Kent products either though. I would try Phyto2, rotifers, and BRS reef chili. Look up some stuff by Murray Camp, he's an azooxanthellate guy.

Thanks Andy you confirmed my thoughts on the black powder
I will give the other stuff you recommend a try

I believe oyster eggs are also recommended, available at Reed Mariculture among others.

Oh yea, oyster eggs are an excellent suggestion. Expensive though!
