I have just recently discovered some things in my tank that I am wondering about. I tried to take pictures, but they never show up worth a crap.
Anyway, my best description would be small groupings on tiny, tiny brown feather duster tubes with neon green (under blue/cationic light) feather dusters.
I don't believe them to be feather dusters because the tubes are very short, stick straight up, and are brown. All of the feather dusters in my ta.k have white tubes that are larger (even the small ones) that snake around the live rock a little before sticking up for the work to extend out the end. Also, I have white and red feather dusters that are spread out around the tank, and these are distinctive clusters about the size of a quarter with about 15 or so of these little things in that space.
    Any ideas?
My wife has our DSLR camera with her today and won't be back until tonight and then we are heading to her parent's house near Dubuque for Easter so I can't try with that camera until tomorrow night.

i have had a few of these tiny little feather dusters as well...i had roughly 5 of them on a mushroom colony i bought from a lfs...barely noticeable unless your face is pressed up against the display tank glass but they are really neat. mine were small typical feather duster style shell that was roughly the diamter of a sewing needle and about 1/4" in length and the "feather" itself reminded me of dry dandelion pollin...small, white and very fragile in appearance. not sure if thats what you have though...what you described sounds as though it may be a majano anemone or aptasia...a picture would for sure help if you could upload one.

It is definitely not either of those. My wife got home and said "Let's go visit my family in Dubuque." So now I won't be home until Sunday night with the good camera.

I tried doing some searching and sort of found some things, but nothing quite the same. Again, these things are tiny, but there are in groups like this picture:

However, they are green with dark tubes like this feather duster:

So combine those two, and make them tiny....

Try searching colonial hydroids. Just a guess since there are no photos /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif

Crap. I think that might be it. Just put green "heads" on them instead of the brown ones I saw when I googled. I did read some people saying that they had "pretty green ones" so they had to be them. Now it seems I need to kill these things
There don't seem to be good, sure fire ways to kill them. I think that I can remove the rocks that have them, so I am sure that will help with whatever I have to do.
