So I have my 180 up and running and it is going well except i had to fit a 75 behind it for a sump because i only have it 24 inches off the floor. Now our floor joices are warping and it is taking up our whole living room. Sooooo, I am contimplating and hope to be ordering a new 48"x24" bullnose acrylic tank that is 36 or 40 inches deep(to be decided next week, depending on quote). It will have an 18" base so that my special needs son can partcipate more with our fish hobby. We will be using this tank as a room divider and will be placed above a cement wall that is in our basement so there will be no floor joice issues. I have 5 maxspect Mazarra LED lights that I hope will be enough. My purpose for this post is, would there be a possibility that we could either have a meeting or would some of you fish experts come to my house to help me plumb this through my basement and set up a better sump system. I will also need a high powered return pump and will need to know what has worked for other people. Please please please help me so I get it right this time and don't screw anything up. I'm not sure how long it will take to get after I order it, but I can't wait!!! here is a pic of one that is similar and made by the same company, except my base will only be 18 tall. I should mention, where i will need to plumb my tank to in the basement is approx 20ish feet away but probably 40ish feet total by the time it travels over and down to where it will be.

    Looks like a fun project.
Are you going to be coming to the controller meeting tomorrow? We could definitely plan something for a meeting, or at least get you set up with the help you need for that kind of project. Its really awesome what you are doing to help make this hobby so enjoyable for your son. I'm sure many people in the club would be more than happy to help you out.

thanks MXC- I LOVED your set up and it really got me thinking about how I need to clean mine up and streamline it like yours so I don't have such a mess behind my tank and I want my livingroom back. We love our tank and still want to keep it but we want it to be an asset to our house not a huge tank in our livingroom and seeing how you plumbed it through to your basement makes me want to do mine right and take the time to plan it and get all you guys who truly have the experience to help up out so I do it right the first time. As for the lights, maybe I can get another controller so I can use some of my lights down stairs.

If you had floor joists bowing/buckling, I would strongly advise that you look at your building structure before doing anything like this. The water weight is the primary load. 180g is 1500 pounds, this is your culprit. Plumbing is the easy part.
