So, I bought a pistol shrimp about 6 months ago, and my wife released it into the tank, and Zip! it went into the live rock never to be seen.  I had a watchman goby that lived in a hole in the liverock too, but they never seemed to meet.  Last week, after Matt gave me some coral and liverock for helping with the move, I had to kinda shove everything around to just fit the pieces into the tank, and that disturbed the watchman goby.  He made a new little cave under the liverock, instead of a hole in the liverock, and just this morning I saw the pistol shrimp with him!   I was pretty sure he was dead, because I'd only seen him once since introduction, and that was on infrared camera at night.  There they are!  Anyway, very excited about that, but now I'm worried when I move everything to the new tank it will break up the pairing again.

Good to hear its doing well. My pistol shares a borrow with a small watchman and the helfrichi. The shrimp made house in the helfrichi's cave and he never left. The watchman joined the two but I think he wouldn't mind if the helfrichi moved on.lol

Very cool. Something similar happened to me. My powder brown died for no apparent reason and then within a couple of days there was my yellow watchmen gobie. I bought a pistol shrimp at Petco at Jordon creek and put it near the watchmen's den and they are best buds now. Had to acclimate with drip the salinity at Petco is 1.18. This kid thinks that keeps the ick away and maybe it does, but it sure makes acclimating difficult.  One of my chromis didn't make it. This kid was telling some poor lady that all you need is tapwater and everything will be fine. All add that to my list of famous advice for lfs geniuses./DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/hehe.gif
