just a quick question I would like to know if it would be possible to remove one of the support braces on a 125 stand to install a larger sump/fuge.Problem being the tank is already set up the stand is a three door design wich has two center support braces.

I would guess it would depend on the stand. Some home built stands are so overbuilt that you could probably remove multiples without any issue, but many of the commercial built stands are built with just enough support so they don't use more materials than necessary. Sorry, no real clear answer on this without being able to see things. Also, if you take it out, keep in mind that you may not get it back in. The stand will probably bow a little under the weight of the tank and shift just enough that the screws probably won't go back into the same holes.

Long story short, if it were me, I would recommend draining the tank before you modify the stand, even temporarily.

I read a similar thread on Aquarium Advice a while back. I think the suggestion made there was to lower the tank level as much as possible, jack up the center just enough to ease the pressure and remove one of the middle supports (but not enough to increase the pressure on the tank at that point!!!), swap out the sump, and put everything back together. The problem is that if it's a standard 125 stand, the support at that point is a pretty flimsy board, it has the necessary vertical strength, you might bust it taking it out.
