I went to Adams aquatics and was looking at some fish. My tank has cycled and I have a small pod community that must came from the live rock.

I was talking to him some about the scooter and he said that it eats frozen robs food.

I acculmated it proper and it looks fine in the tank but it is not eatting the frozen food.

Anyone have any ideas ? I read online about them eatting pods so I have 250pods coming in the mail.

I have 2 of these in my 90 gallon. One for about 1.5 years other 6 months. Tank has been up for almost 4 years. When I first set my tank up had 2 and they died. These fish require a very established system. Mine do not eat frozen food or pellets. They graze on the rocks and love co pods and Ive even seen them eat algae. Like thejtl said they are very finicky and hard to keep in a new aquarium.

You can purchase live tiger pods, copepods and supplement with whatever was/is living in your live rock. They will pick the rockwork clean of all the living creatures, so you'll need a place like a sump or refugium where the pods can live, breed, grow etc without being hunted. A filter sock on a return pipe is a great places where tiger pods will congregate when its time to change it.......shake it out over a bucket and you'll have supper for your fish /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif Definitely buy some sort of pods to supplement until you can get the fish to take frozen food. Ask to see them eating frozen/dead food at the pet store before you purchase.

thejtl it is just a 29gallon with about 30lbs of live rock, this is the only fish in it.

Yes I have bought some pods online and plan and trying to make a good habitat for them to grow in the tank. I asked him if it only ate pods before I bought it and he said no it just eats rob's food, I don't think he was lying to me just perhaps the fish ate rob's food at his shop and not my house.

Where do people buy Tiger Pods in des moines?

I bought some at clowns in Washburn. You might be able to buy some chaeto from someone and it usually contains them too. Online also.

Buy more pods, these were nice when I bought them -http://www.ebay.com/itm/Saltwater-Amphipods-Copepods-250-Live-Pods-Great-Fish-Coral-Food-Refugium-/271060407772?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f1c7595dc

Get bucket or large jar or something that you can put saltwater in. Put some of the pods you bought in your tank at night so they don't get eaten right away. Put the rest in your container of saltwater with an air hose and a heater if it is winter. Feed them a little flake food a couple of times a week and you will grow your own supply of pods. You should be able to keep a steady stream of pods going for your tank this way.

Scooters are way easier to keep then the mandarines, they seem to take to prepared food relatively easy. My question to you is how long have you had it? Fish some times take a few days to adjust before they trust you enough to eat.

/DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/confused.gif Lol, that would have been a good thing to tell us /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif Give him a chance to settle in, I'd start to worry if he wasn't eating after a 5-7 days or so. The food they were feeding him at the store is Rod's, it's frozen. Do you have any of that? What Maureen said is an excellent idea, if you have the time to set it up.

Yes I have robs food, I was sure to also pick it up. Yes I tried it but it has not eaten yet. I will wait a week like suggested and perhaps try to feed him again on Wednesday.
