I heard that if the tank is glass you should use glass baffles. I would definitely buy your silicone from a lfs just to make sure it is 100%...
Why not do a diy led setup? You can get a nice setup fairly cheap for a fowlr. No heat and good light output.
Depends on your water pressure. If u have low water pressure you will need a booster pump in order for the membrane to filter out the 75 or 100...

I think you might be talking about the light shimmer. Thats when the light shines through the water and shimmers on the rock and sand.
