120 gallon is cycled!!!

    yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! on the 16th day my 120g is completely cycled.it can process 2-3ppm ammonia in about 14-16 hours.just did a big water change and my nitrates are at 5ppm.i can buy a few cleanup crew members.diatoms are receeding already the last couple of days.any reccomendations for a non crusteation cleanup crew for this size tank?

    Wow... 16 days is FAST... My 120 took a couple of months to go through its main cycle. I think that it was just really nasty looking because of the massive amounts of live rock I was using and how the previous owner of the rock let his tank go to crap for 4 years and the rock was loaded with phosphates. Some pieces are STILL releasing phosphates that are being consumed by small localized clumps of hair algae and that is after over a year. The GFO that I've been running has really helped too.

    You could get a few small crabs and snails. Not many though as you don't have much for them to eat. When you start feeding, then you can get more ;0) Congrats!!

    i used dead rock and dead sand with dr tims one and only.only had a small diatom problem so far.fingers crossed,lol.so far so good.no crabs or shrimp,gonna get a lionfish and a puffer so i guess im stuck with snalls.

    wasnt to bad,36 bucks shipped i believe.but it certainly worked as they said it would.i did think it wasnt gonna when my nitrites got stuck for a week,lol.

    Not sure how you pulled off 36 bucks? I set up a 125 with the recommended amount and with shipping it was 90 bucks! And that was from Dr Tims.

    i had 15 bucks credit on amazon and i'm a prime member so free shipping.i did pay 7 bucks on dr tims site for the ammonia though.

    Nice!! Of course it would work lol....patience is the key here and i know its hard when setting up a tank. Again.. goes to show Dr Tims is well worth it...all the right kinds of bacteria you need. Good luck and now the real fun starts!!!

    The Puffer may try to eat the snails :0) I use Dr Tim's...Re-Fresh, Waste Away, etc. He's the bacteria Guru!! ;0)
