Is the divider just an acrylic sheet with holes drilled in it? Looks neat! You mentioned it will be a fowlr. Will one side be aggressive and the other side community? I think I see some kind of trigger on the left there. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif

I don't get it. Whats so "cool" about putting an acrylic divider in the middle of a tank? It's only a matter of time before the divider fails unless you sealed it in somehow. Even so, the "reef" side is going to require far more strict details to lighting and water chemistry.

Personally, I think this is just a bad idea and will eventually fail. My suggestion would be to just get another tank to do your reef in.

I like your idea in theory. I used to have two 110rr next to each other in the wall. I had a huma and a big puffer in one tank and coral in the other. They worked very well until I combined the sumps for "ease" of maintenance. My poor water quality from the aggressive tank always bothered my corals. I was never able to keep up even with huge wc, filters, skimmer ect. I do miss having the best of both worlds like you do though. Good luck

I don't see that as being THAT hard to accomplish. Keep the water chemistry the same for the whole tank. Put better lighting on the reef side of the tank. Sure, you probably wouldn't be able to keep "messy fish" or heavy eaters on the fish only side, but I don't see this idea as something doomed for failure.
