I spent 3-4 hours polishing the tank before putting it up. Last step of polish I noticed water/polish dripping out of the bottom on one of the seams on the tank... Huge bummer. I guess at this point I am looking for a new tank unless someone on here knows much about making acrylic tanks? I love the acrylic because It can be polished incredibly clear and is much lighter than glass.

Any advice or expertise would be appreciated.

there are several repair options, but the first thing needed is a few pics. Might be hard to get ones with good focus so take a bunch. The most important first step is cleaning out the gap, the polish needs to be completely cleaned out and that might be tricky

It looks like there is water in the seam about 12-14" leading from the corner going in towards the middle.

I had a tough time getting a good picture but you can see where my hand is it goes from a darker seem to the lighter (non leaking) seam. I cant see a visible gap.

Any advice? better to just scrap tank?

I have the opportunity to get a 240 5.5x2x3 acrylic tank with plumbing and stand or a 240 8x2x2 glass with all kinds of equipment included for the same price as the acrylic. Including apex controller, two reeflo dart hybrid pumps, iwaki pump, reactors ect.

Bud may have a different opinion as acrylic leaks can be repaired. However, if it was my tank and if I could afford to buy a noble a king tank, that's what I'd do as one doesn't know how long a fix might last. If wanted, you could fix the leak and let the new buyer know....when I had my acrylic, I kept it for several years after it started crazing on a few seams. I just couldn't trust having it break in the house so I sold it cheap. Today, it is still holding up so one just never knows....

Putting my current tank aside, are you pro acrylic or glass?

Probably neither. Glass is easier with bumps and scratches in that it's harder to knick or scratch them. But once in, they can't be removed like most acrylic scratches. With glass, the silicone seal can fray and eventually needs resealed . With acrylic, yes it's lighter and actually holds temp better than glass (power outage) but you really have to be careful as well as others and pets' claws I just don't have a preference except overflow placement...I vote corners for RR and a ghost/coast to coast.

Sounds like the wife isn't comfortable putting it up in the living room regardless of how sound the fix could be. Is there any way to cut the tank apart and use the scrap acrylic for sump baffles?
