All I'll say is you get what you pay for.

 

Your best bet is to spend a little more for a better light.  I know they have got better units coming out lately but there is history of bad ballasts in these but I think they may have fixed it.  You see a lot of people who end up upgrading ballasts.   Also the bulbs that come with them are pretty mediocre so you would most likely want to swap those out.  In the end with those upgrades to these units you would be better off buying a better light in the beginning. 




Another light to look into that is cheaper but has good reviews are the Fish Need It lights.

 

I always would recommend looking at used lights for sale online like RC or here. They are usually the best deal.

I really do think the Aquatic Illumination LEDs are amazing, Craig got a bunch of them at the store and I've been checking them out. I'm going to put the PAR meter up to them tomorrow to see what they've got!
