So I figured since I'm getting closer I would share pics. I purchased a 40 breeder DT already drilled for overflow and returns from HarleyHawk (Rod). It came with a 40 breeder sump which I had planned to have Kyle Potter build a stand to fit these both. It didn't quite work out that way as it just wouldn't make sense for the space I have in my home. Instead I was able to get a 29 gal sump from BigKel. I got the stand from Kyle Wednesday night. I have started to process of priming and will be painting here very soon. Hoping to have the tank up and running by tomorrow night. Fingers crossed. I am alittle worried that the plumbing that came with the DT and 40 sump will need a little rerouting. And I'm not good with plumbing. So I'm really hoping it all still works how I want it. I have a CPR skimmer but it still needs a pump for it. Anway here are some pics of the DT and stand before priming. Kyle is also building me a canopy which will come a little later. I was just wanting to get this tank up and running and time to cycle before spring fest. This way I have more room for new corals!!!!

Also I must give a huge thank you and shout out to Mr Kyle Potter on his work. The stand is amazing and it came out even better then I had hoped for. Thanks for the great work Kyle!!!! And thanks to Rod and Kelly for the tanks. This group has been a huge help on getting this all put together. Thanks everyone!!!

Looks great :0) Hopefully you will have cycled rock and seed sand for the new build. If you use Dr. Tim's One & Only also, you "might" be ready for ( new) corals. Hope so and good look! I think you are going to love it!!

Nice start on it,That plumbing that I had for the 40 gal sump should also work for you. If not give me a call I have plenty of stuff laying around for free

Sponge this 40 will be replacing my 30. So I'm planning to use as much as water and all of the rock from it. Well what I can to start. Obviously corals and fish won't go in right away. Corals and fish will have to live in a tote for a week or so.

Thanks again to all those who helped me out with this build. I can't say enough times how much I appreciate this group being here to help me out... This never would have happend without this group... I love how it turned out!!!! Now if anyone happens to have a skimmer that is rated to work for a 40 gal breeder with a 30 sump at a reasonable price please let me know!! Thanks!!

Man did that turn out nice! Great job! Glad I was able to help with the sump. It's cool when members contribute to someone else's tank.

I bought an SCA 301 for my 46 gallon w/15 gallon sump. I am just getting water in the tank so I haven't had a chance to run it and test it out myself. If you search there are quite a few people running SCA skimmers and are happy with the performance. This size is a clone of a bubble magus NAC3.5. Even runs the same pump but its just 1/2 the price. It fit my setup and my sump so I figured for $80 I would give it a try.

I have a prism skimmer from red sea some were.I bought it from a person to use on my tank but found a bigger skimmer the same day and went with it. But with you being 40+29 gallons and with corals. Not sure it would be big enough. Because if remember right its only rated for 40 gallon.

I just looked at the SCA 301 on ebay and they are 95 with free shipping. I would really like to find something cheaper or trade my 30 set up that I'm trying to sell for a skimmer. But really need something very soon. I was going to try and hook my HOB skimmer up but the water level in the sump is too low for it.

How soon do you need one I may know some one with a skimmer. That may work for you and I will be up to spring SF. If you would like me to find out about it

He is going to dig it out and make sure everything is there for the skimmer but said he is thinking around the $40 mark. its a coralife skimmer 65 so would think its for a 65 gallon. Is this something you would be interested in.
