Awhile back I bought a 125 with the intention of setting it up and running another tank which would make four tanks to take care of. After sitting around and pondering I've decided to remove the 55 from the wall and put the 125 in. That being said I am looking for someone to drill the 125 for me. I can load it up and bring to someone in the Des Moines area. The current 55 is only viewable from the front. The plan is to take the 125 over to the corner and make it viewable from the front and one side. I'm super excited to have the big tank and add some larger more exciting fish. Once I get rolling on this I will have a 55 with two 1" drains and a 3/4 return up for grabs. I will also have a 48" current marine LED light for sale. The light is a year old and has a remote with built in timers. So if there's anyone out there that would be willing to drill my 125 let me know. Once it's drilled I can get this project rolling. Pictures are of the current setup pictures of the progress to follow. The first picture is of the 125 bare bones the second picture is of when I very first put the tank into the wall 3 years ago. The third picture is about 12 months later when I decided to redo the trim and tank. I would also like some advice on what size of drains and return/returns that I should put on the 125.

    Nice

I would drill it like you have the current one. If you paint the back black, you can also paint your pcv elbows the same so you barely see them.

I personally dont drill a hole for returns, I just run them along the back and over the top, but that is just my personal preference.

Drilling is super easy, 125 has thick glass which actually makes it easier. If no one in DM will do it, I can help you if you want to lug it to Waterloo

That would be great! I've always wanted to get my wife out to your house to see your setups. You have some of the most amazing setups that I've seen.

I'll have to look at my schedule and see what days I have to work on the weekends coming up. Does the weekend work best for you?

When you say you would drill it like my 55 do you mean with two 1" drains and one 3/4 return?
I didn't figure that would be enough on a 125 or maybe I have over kill on the 55.

Evenings or weekends should work. PM me a couple options on your schedule and I am sure we can make one work.

I'm looking to order a skimmer for this 125 build plan on using a 40 breeder or 55 for a sump. I'm eyeballing a SCA-302 does anyone have experience with these? What do you folks recommend looking to spend under $300

Big shout out to @Dave@Dave for drilling my tank. Most of my equipment will be here by the weekend. Saturday I plan on tearing out the 55 and getting the 125 in the wall and plumbed up. Pictures of the weekend work to follow.

So after Friday night and Saturday afternoon here is where I'm at. The old tank sat up a little higher if you note the gap on the front luckily I'm going to use a wide trim and it's going to cover. I got some of the plumbing cut last night and mocked up. Today when I get off of work I will be picking up the trim and a couple plumbing parts that I forgot and should be rockscaping by the end of the night.

Yea don't you hate when your like 1 90° elbow from being done and you dont have it. Your tank looks great in like how it wraps around the corner!

    Looking great man!

I had to do something similar at 4 paws when I swapped out the 4ft 120g for a 6ft 125g

Slowly all week I've been plugging away at this thing. As of lasr night it is circulating and ready to start the cycle process. Unfortunately it's also time to clean up the mess I've made in my basement.:( I'm still unsure if I'm going to leave the skimmer where it is at. I think I may build a stand for it to sit on or find some egg crate to lay over the tank so it can remain in the same spot incase it freaks out. That way I don't end up with water on the floor. All in all this was a nice smooth build without any major hiccups. I still have a few odds and ends to setup but the majority of the work is complete.
