I am in the prosess of seting up a 55 for seahorses. I have always wanted a seahorse tank and finaly decided to put one together. I got this stand and canopy from reddog170 and decided to sand it down and refinish it. I think it turned out very nice.

Got the nifty blue seahorses on ebay for $20 shiped I like the way they look.

I ordered 50lb of marco key largo deco rock and got it today less than a week for it to get here. I think it looks very nice and no risk of adding something that could be bad for the horses.

The shell in the middle will be used as a feeding station to cut down on uneaten food mess. I will be placeing two large sea fans behind the shell in the middle one orange one purple 6x12 that I will be ordering from ebay in the next few days. I plan on keeping this tank around 74 degrees with around 300gph of flow.I will have the horses, sea fans, some zoas, rics, and red macro algae in the tank. I have retro fited the guts from a old coralife pc fixture into the canopy and will be running 2 65w pc 50/50 bulbs on it. In the pictures you might have noticed that only one light is on I blew the other yesterday so I need to order one. I will be runing a 20 long sump on this tank. The sump is under the tank but not hooked up yet I need to order a overflow and return pump. I have a hot magnum 250 on there for now. Well that is about it for now I will update this thread when I get some life in the tank.

That's awesome! I'm setting up a small seahorse tank too and going to get horses sometime in June after I move again and get everything situated. Where are you located, it would be cool to check out sometime.

    Cool Bill,
I also have a seahorse tank setup but it houses freshwater angelfish right now. I postponed this project. In my research it seemed like captive raised temperate species were really the only way to go. Temperate because I intend to keep them in my reef system. In a separate tank of course.
These guys seem to be the best place to buy, but quite expensive. Have you found better?

This is the cheapest place I found, but they are wild.

Great minds think alike that is were I plan on buying my horses I can look past the expence for the captive bred that are trained to eat mysis. I'm thinking H erectus are what I am going for.

I have added some bio balls from the sump of my display to help seed the rock and a small live rock to help seed the coralline algae. I also added a small kenya tree and it started openening right up well see how it dose.

Here are a few update pics I have added some coral and some macro algae and I got my sump hooked up. I set my sump up a little different than most people. I put the skimmer in the first chamber then I have two walls first is a over the other is a under with uncut blue bonded filter pads inbetween usually with a carbon pad after that. Then bio balls in the return chamber. I know most people don't like bio balls but I think they are great I have used them ever since I made my first sump 7 years ago and they have always worked fine.[IMG]

Got my sea fans today they were a killer deal. Anyone looking for sea fans should check out reefs to go on ebay I got these for $24 apice with $24 shiping so just over $70 total. These fans are huge for that price. I am very pleased with this transaction and intend to order some more of these for my display. And my wife got the net above the tank and we are going to put shells and other stuff in there I think it looks cool.
