Ok, so I have a new project beginning...I did some trading and I ended up with this 57g 36x36x12T shallow cube.
Here it is after bringing it home and trying to figure out how to put the stand back together.
The stand will soon look a lot like my 30g cube's stand.

that pump has alot of power, you will have ALOT of movement. i ran my skimmer and my return with it, i had 3 1/2" locline outlets and it still was to much flow for my over flows. i would suggest maybe a ocean motions device. also the more outlets and smaller outlets the less flow you will have as well. you can throttle back that pump too and not hurt it. i had it about 3/4 the way closed off haha

Thanks! I am not sure what i am going for yet with this tank. I know it will be fun to aqusacape tho! I have about 200lbs of rock and 3 pieces are as big as 5 gallon buckets!

Ya this puppy should have a lot of flow! I am contemplating BB, never ran with out sand, but i may give it a try at first and see how it goes. If i don't like it i can add sand later. This pump will be used as a CL and will have only 2 1" returns that will be Y'd off so 4 outputs. My future tank will need a CL pump this size so i will use it on my next tank too.
And yes....i do my best work in my kitchen! thats where i built my 30g stand too![IMG]

The very top outside bulkheads will be the drains for the sump/refugium
The 2nd outter most bulkheads on each side will be the returns for the CL
The Top middle hole will be the return for the Sump/Refugium pump
The middle bottom hole will be the strainer for the CL

with the closed loop ones, i would get 3/4" locline. use the "Y" locline. that way you have a total of 8 outlets at 3/4 inch, that will keep your flow a little lower and allow for more positioning of the flow. thats my 2cents. you can try with out first though and see how you like it.

I will keep the pics coming! Hope to get the sump plumbed tonight! I finished the CL last night and i have got some great water movement going in this tank! With only a 1" drain and a 1" return that is T'd off it cut the flow down a little but not to bad! Plenty of flow but not overwhelming!

Another quick update. I was up till about 2AM getting the plumbing done and the 30g transferred over to the new cube. I still have micro bubbles coming from my CL so i will need to probably tear it apart and reapply thread tape and PVC glue everything again. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/sad.gif Sucks to work all night just to have another problem arise!

    Here are the pics...

As you can see the stand is still a frame, but will look really nice soon!

Not to gloat or anything like that, but i think i am very happy with the aquascape! It turned out literally like a natural 3'x3' Chunk of the reef! I think it looks natural and i gave my corals a lot of room to grow out.

Also, just came home from the Wal-Mart of petstores...Petco, and got a really nice fat healthy Powder Brown Tang! She is a beautiful fish! She is already swimming around darting in and out of the rocks and looking for food! She is about 5" and looks to be liking her new home.

the stand was built by the same guy that built the tank. Good thing the tank looks 10x better than the stand!
