Ok tank will be here Saturday . I went with 30x30x16 from glass cages.

Equipment I have for this are as follows. 1 mp40. Reefkeeper elite, and after much hesitation for lights I ended up going with the maxspect razor 27 inch 160 watt led along with a reef octopus nb110 for the skimmer. Still working on a sump design and return pump.

Once the tank gets here I will start blog with pictures.

Oh and I have a couple coral already, a nice bleeding apple scoly and a couple scans sitting in joes tank.

Nice!! That is the exact size and company I want to get someday. I'm jealous!

Even the light is the one I had picked out.

Thanks. I really did not want to go LED as i didnt really care for the SOLs I had but after seeing these and reading great many articles and reviews I felt it was worth a shot. I just hope I am not disappointed and that 1 will be enough light.. I did go with a larger stand for this build, 36x36. I felt this would give me a little more room for equipment with out having to cram it all in there.

Need to work on finding a dosing system and get my reactors ordered.

I have no doubt it will be more than enough light, those are fantastic. Spectrum can't be beat as I'm sure you found out with researching too. I love my little panorama pro for my biocube, but the razor is the only led I like for a larger tank. Well reefbreeders too if someone is on a tight budget.

I can't wait to see how it all comes together. What options for the tank?

Only thing I was going to do different was use an ats for the only filtration - just to try.

Got my tank today and I got to say I am less then pleased.

The glass is has a green tint not clear, the stand is kinda rough with glue on it and the overflow holes drilled off center.

There are other things that just do not sit well with me and I will be calling them to voice my opinion on their craftsmanship.

    I will post pics tomorrow.

I currently have a 60 galllon rimless from Glasscages But I have it with Starfire glass. I think it is of good quality. I have had it for approximately 3 years. I didnt go with their stand. I didn't like the look of them and looked generic to me.

Sorry to hear about the issues. When you pay good money for something I know how you feel wanting it to be perfect.
Did you get starfire glass? I assume your tank is 1/2" once you get that thick even starfire has a slight tint when you're comparing it to something like acrylic.
    Is it all from glasscages?

I didnt go with starfire glass, but i also never have in the past and it was always clear glass. I will be able to fix it all other then the glass and I will make it look nice just not what I was expecting. I did go with glasscages. The delivery was great and someone in des moines was their next stop.

I need to clean it up but this is the tank, you can see how it sits on the stand becase of where they routered the holes for the overflow. I will fix this come nicer weather so it is centered

Oh nice! Just saw the pic, happy with stand size? That is my dream tank right there... The stand looks pretty big in that pic.

I wanted the stand bigger then the tank actually. it is 36x36 and the tank is 30x30. This is mostly so I have more room underneath so I dont have to cram everything under it and fight to work on things.

I think I wasn't expecting the stand to have a lip on the edge. Going to run it without a top? I saw a few people use screen kits to keep fish from jumping out and had considered something along those lines if I ever got a rimless tank.

yeah no top at all. There wont be many fish in this tank. As far as the edge around the tank I will be dressing that up with some black contact paper after the stand is stained and the overflow holes are centered the way I envisioned.
