So I was waiting til after Xmas (Xmas money and gifts) to get the rest of my equipment to get this build underway, I think I have everything I need so yesterday I built the sump 40b

Probably a month ago I drilled the tank prepping for the coast to coast weir and bean animal silent and safe overflow.

I will be siliconing the coast to coast in either tonight or tomorrow using momentive 100 series silicone. While I am waiting for the silicone to cure (two weeks) I am going to tear this stand apart and beef it up

As I don't think is will be sturdy enough, so I'm going to use the existing plywood and build a 2x4 frame on the inside and am thinking I will make it so I can pull the whole front off for access. This is my first build so hopefully I get it right, the 55 I have now was givin to me in really ruff shape and has come along was since then but I fear the rock and sand are saturated with po3 and I will not be using it, so I have acquired 100 lbs of live rock and 80 lbs of new sand Carib sea aragonite special grade reef sand

Will your return go over the top?

Yes I was planning on running the return over the top as I have a 6" shroud that will help hide it and will either drill a hole at the water line to break siphon or situate it so it will some how break siphon incase of power outage maint. or somekind of failure

It's looking good. I was curious because I'm in the middle of doing the exact same thing to my 50 gal oceanic. I'm going to drill for my return because I won't have a canopy or anything to hide it. I'm planning to keep my returns high and have plenty of volume available in my sump to prevent a flood. Adding a siphon break is a very good idea, even if you have a check valve. I learned that early on... I also check regularly to be sure the holes haven't clogged.

Yea dont think that I trust check valves, mama would kill if even a little of the contents of the tank got on the floor. Even tho my tank is right next to my office(it's very distrracting sometimes, I found a mini harlequin serpant starfish I didn't know I had today) accidents do happen I can't be here all the time. I will have to remember to check those siphon break holes good idea

Very clean plumbing job. Nice and tidy, and everything secure.
Got any pics of the inside with the coast to coast weir installed?

oops, guess I didn't read through the thread close enough. I thought the newest pic was an update.

Well you've definitely picked the right model to copy anyway. Good luck with your plumbing.

Had a chance yesterday to get the calfo coast to coast installed, I have some cleanup and then seal the bond with another layer of silicone then it's two weeks cure time. Time to get started on the plumbing and beefin up the stand.
