What type of scraper. I would put in low flow and wouldnt hurt to add some coral accel. It has iodine and vitamin c. My tank loves it anyways.

It was one that has a metal blade on it. im sure some polyps will die no matter what i do but if i can save most of them i would be happy with that.

Yeah I would put in low flow as some inerds might come out through hole and dont want them getting blown all over the place. I would also atleast add the iodine so it wont get infection. Ive never lost a head after fragging and I use a dremel with a cut off wheel and have cut a third of a head off before.

Be careful adding Iodine directly to your tank, it can be very dangerous. IMO don't add something if you aren't measuring it. In an combo additive like Nick is mentioning it should be fine but be careful. If you think there is something going on with the tissue, dipping may be better.
Acan polyps can be fragged right down the middle and still survive, I wouldn't worry about what you did too much too much. Acans are tempermental especially if they don't like the water params. Many people have claimed to have luck dipping with Revive when they won't open but I don't have personal experience with this. AJ was going to try this but don't know if he did.
I have had a lot of luck moving Acans around into different flow and lighting and have also had them never come back, not to scare you.
What kind of Acan is this, Aussie (usually multicolored) or Indo (usually plain)? If I remember right the Indo's live in deeper water and Aussie's live in Shallower water. I have had terrible luck with them when water was super clean and very good luck when not so much.
Anyone feel free to chime in if I have mis-staed something or yu have had a different experience. IMO Acans can be challenging.

Im just getting my feet wet w acans but I have a few cool multi colors. greens, blues, reds and rainbows and I agree w joel. They seem to like more nutrient filled water. They are fairly hardy and I just dremmeled my green multi color to frag a head and that plus the main piece i fragged from were open and "poofy" flesh after just a few hours. Mine are pretty hardy.

I think it is a indo from what Joel described.
I thought abought moveing it which i've had luck doing before. I figured since it was doing good their before i bumped it, maybe it would be a good idea to leave it where it is.
When anthony Calfo was at fall fest i remember him telling someone their tank was to clean. I wanna say it was JB in Cedar Rapid's but im not positive. Maybe i should dump some cow manure in my tank to dirty it up a little lol.

Correct Joel. Thanks for pointing that out. I use a combo additive and add it after fragging or after like a month of not adding it. Not regular use.

As far as hard to keep idk about that. I still have around a dozen of em and am recovering about 6 of em for some friends. They are one of my favorite corals. I also am not trying to keep a low nutrient tank. All I run in filter is a fuge and a micron pad with a water change about once a month or so.

It occurred to me tonight that I didn't ask something pretty important. Are you feeding him?

I feed my acans brine shrimp enriched with spiralina and slivers of silversides. Medium flow and light. They are Aussies and eat like a horse ;=)
