Going to be starting a refugium this weekend for a 27g cube.

Body will be made from 1/4" acrylic, black on all sides except the back and the top.

There will be an existing light fixture sitting on top to promote chaeto growth and the clear back will take advantage of some natural sunlight.

The small internal baffles will help guide water flow and support a sand bed.

    Will be another fun build!

Here you can see some of the lid detail. Because the lid is clear I don't want messy joints on the underside from stiffiners so I'm going to route the lid out of a thicker pc of material. Recessing where needed so it can drop securely in place.

I also have another sump build going...will start that build thread soon!

I didn't really take many pics during this build but I have some of the finished product before it was delivered!

About the only change from the original design was that I moved the top baffles down just enough that I did not need to make recesses in the underside of the lid for them. They still add support to the lid however.

Here's a shot of the backside:

The original plan was for this to go on the back of a 27g cube but it turned out that the plastic trim was not the standard dimension you find on everything else. Instead, the project was upgraded to a 40g breeder that he also had on hand. I hope to get some pics of this one in operation!
