So I am looking at getting some of the better BRS activated carbon. I had just been using the stuff sold at WalMart for the nano, but will need larger quantites, which turn out to be cheaper anyway from BRS. I am trying to decide between the lignite carbon and the ROX carbon. Based on their video, the ROX outperforms the lignite, but is also two times the price (worth it if it does at least two times the job). Has anyone used the ROX carbon? And how long do you run them? I know this can be very subjective, but a ballpark would be great. I am putting this on a FOWLR, so my main priority is just to get the water nice and clear/polished.

Get the lignite for FOWLR. It will do a good job.

I've bought the ROX, but I can't quantify the difference between the two. It's pretty hard to considering that the gases and chemicals that carbon absorbs is not always constant...and it's equally difficult to tell when your carbon has reached the end of it's useful life (other than waiting for the water to begin to color). All that being said If you see good results from the lower grade stuff, use it and save the $$.
