So I'm mostly done modifying my bio cube so I figured I'd make a build thread to show others what I've done. I've got small upgrades planned whenever I feel like getting around to them, but the hard work is done. Let me know if you have questions or recommendations/suggestions.

    Equipment list:

Oceanic 29 Gallon Bio Cube(de-rimmed and back chamber removed)

    Mag 9.5 for closed loop

    Mag 3 for return(yes, I run a sump on a bio cube)

    Custom built acrylic sump

    Kessil A360-WE with goosneck mount

    SCA-301 protein skimmer(slightly modified)

APEX with EB8, EB4, breakout box, Kessil to Apex cable, Apex auto feeder, temp and pH probe, float switches.

    (2) BRS 1.1mL dosers for calcium and alkalinity

BRS mini media reactor for ROX activated carbon fed by MJ600

BRS regular media reactor for bio pellets fed by MJ1200

    Tom's aqua lifter for ATO

    RIO Aqua Sun Night Light

    Livestock List:

    ~25# pourous live rock

    No sand

    Midas Blenny

    Melanurus Wrasse

Oscellaris Clownfish(my original fish from starting hobby ~8 yrs ago)

    Blue maxima Clam

    Lemonade Milli

    Red Milli

    Blue Echinata

    Hydnophora

    Green Favia

    6 different Acans

    Blue Florida Ricordea

    Orange Florida Ricordea

    Green Ricordea Yuma

    Green Candy Cane

    Metalic Green Frogspawn

    Metalic Green Hammer

    Metalic Green Torch

    2 kinds of Gorgonians

    Golden Leptastrea

Possibly a Pom Pom Crab(haven't seen him in a while)

Fighting Conch(need to rehouse him now that I removed sand)

Assorted snails and 1 red scarlet hermit

As for modifications, I've pretty much modified everything there is to do, so I'll try to list them all here:

    1. Removed plastic trim on Bio Cube.

    2. Removed back chamber on Bio Cube

    3. Drilled Bio Cube for overflow, retun fitting, as well as two holes for closed loop.

    4. Custom built DIY acrylic sump

    5. Switches for feed mode and stand light.

    6. Misc. stuff

Yay, it worked, here's another pic. My phone is currently uploading my pics to the cloud, so it'll take some time before I have pics of the sump and others.

These are pictures from my phone, so don't judge me!

Close up, the pumps are currently off in the pic:

Glad to see you got everything setup and running! I've been pretty busy these last few months so I've put my tank on the back burner but I am back now!

Thanks guys. I bought a house at the end of February, so in March I moved everything. Moves always suck, but everything moved great and only one small coral didn't make it. After we moved I setup a 150 deep dimension cube(3' x 3', will do a build thread soon). I cycled that tank for about 2 months, moved over all my livestock, and immediately after moving everything over, almost all my livestock died(all but one fish and part of an acan). I had no idea what was going on until I traced it back to an old titanium heater that was shorting out and shocking everything.

Since I found that out, I still have one fish(my original fish, a clownfish, that I've had ~ 8 years now) and half of one of my acan colonies. I've picked up 2 sps frags a few weeks ago and they're doing great.

The clownfish that survived is my original, very first purchased fish, that got me into the sw hobby about 8 years ago, so thank god he didn't die too, he meant a lot to me.

What is so depressing about the whole thing is I've hardly lost any corals or fish since being in the hobby, but that one GD heater I lost almost all my fish, and hundreds of $ of corals that will be a pia to replace...

I will be making a 150 deep dimension build thread sometime soon, I've just been depressed about only having a clownfish and 2 coral frags in my new tank.

What hurts the most is I thought that new system out so incredibly much for over a year, but still in the end it's an old ****ty heater that kicks my ***.

    Donations accepted! :)
