Any problems with doing this????? My alk needs are greater than my calc needs in my frag tank. Any problems with adding just the alk component to my topoff water?????

That's a loaded question! If it's just a small amount of Alk that is needed, you might get away with it. I wouldn't do it for an extended period of time though.... Another option could be to raise it higher than normal and let it drop over the course of time. Again, I wouldn't do that often either. If there are SPS frags, put them in the DT :0) The softies and LPS could get by if the Alk dropped below 7dKh for a couple days. Would just have to slowly raise it again!

I only need a small amt and its a pain to do daily, especially when I'm on vacation and need to have someone else maintain the tank.

What I'm wondering though, is WHY it wouldn't work. I use the powdered ALK and create a mixture with RO/DI water. That mixture is then dosed in my DT. What I'm wanting to do is essentially diluting that solution even further, and then running it thru the ATO for the frag tank. So adding 15-20 ml of the prepared liquid solution to a 1 gal on RO/DI top-off water (no kalk in this water). ?????? Even if it was 40 ml of the prepared alk liquid solution to 1 gal of RO/DI top-of water, what/why would this be a problem???

I add almost all my additives to my top off water.
