So I am trying to update an album or post with photos and when I upload pictures in an album, all that appears is an X, and I cannot even delete the photo from the album.
Can someone please post how to complete the tasks or is the site just buggy?

The photo album function is currently broken. It's a bug in the software. I have a support ticket open and I've been working with the authors of the software to get it corrected.

Believe me that this is an important issue that I've been working every day.

I don't know if a bat would help...   I finally got them to acknowledge the problem and they told me how to semi-fix it for now.   So, the galleries are "kind of" working provided that you know how to work around all of the minor bugs.
Here's the list of problems that I posted to their support forum.   It might give you some insight as to how to avoid problems when uploading to the gallery.
    ------
While working through an issue with S3, I came across a number of
issues that are occurring with the profile galleries on my site.
    1)
When adding photos from outside of a specific gallery (in other words,
clicking on "Add Photos" when looking at the gallery list rather than
from within a specific gallery) the photo thumbnails do not appear
during the "Save" phase.   The Save function does work however using
    this method.
    2) When adding photos from WITHIN a gallery, the
photo thumbnails do appear.   However, when "Save" is clicked, an error
occurs and the photos are not saved.   There is no way to resolve this
issue without navigating away from the page.
    3) When viewing
photos and you click the left/right arrows to navigate, the photo and
comments update, but the photo caption does not.
    4) After
clicking on "Save" when editing a gallery or photo, you are taken back
to the main galleries list.   This is a bit confusing in some
    situations.
    5) Deleting a Gallery does not clean up S3.   Not sure if this is by design.  It's not that big of a deal to me in any case.
    6) Using S3 in conjunction with "Save Original Image" leads to major problems.
    7)
If you click on "Add Photos" by mistake, there is no way to get back to
the Gallery/Photo lists without exiting the profile system all
together.   Both the "Upload" and "Save" steps need "Cancel/Back"
buttons to help resolve this issue.
    8) There is some kind of an
overly that appears when you save uploads.    I don't know if this is a
skin issue with my site, but the overlay does not appear correctly.
Some kind of a "Saving" message would be nice (if it's not already
there and just not appearing for me).
    Enhancement Requests:
    1)
When "Save Original Image" is checked, We need a way to view the
original image from the gallery.   On our site, seeing the fine detail
in some photos is very important to people and too much is lost in the
    smaller/compressed version.
    2) It would be awesome to have a
tool to help manage discrepancies between S3, the local disk and the
database.  This will become even more useful if S3 capability is added
    to AF.
    Thanks
    -JB
