So I have a 12g jbj and I recently took the good off and replaced it with a led light fixture. Now I am having problems keeping up with the evaporation. It evaps about 2-3 gallons a week. Anyone have Any ideas of what I could do to to lessen the evaporation?

I have had many small tanks and had the same problem ,there is not much u can do because even if u get a bigger tank the evap rate is still the same u just dont notice it as much, but u can run a reserve tank with the solenoid and a auto top off on the tank not much else that i no of ,, you no they say go big or go home but in this hobby if u dont go big u never leave home because of maintenance ,,lol ,, good luck ,,, also running a humidifier
it supposed to make your house not so dry

Ya we run two humidifiers in our home. I was thinking covering the tank with a acrylic top.

if you're running LED's an acrylic top will kill white penetration, most guys would LED's are running a greater screen for tops ,

Could get some glass cut. I am not sure how bad acrylic really is for killing LED whites, I run LED's under my stock biocube splashguard which is acrylic and there is plenty white light even with a blue heavy setup. I think you would be fine.

I did this before, keep in mind back when I did it. I was running T-5s and my tank seem to heat up pretty good with the glass tops on.. Evaporation is just part of the Reef Hobby, auto top off will make it less noticeable..
