Still run em on the frag tanks and quarantine. Have vegas on my display. I think theyre fine but compared to the colors you get out of the newer fixtures like the vegas, etc. Id lean more on those for your display tank if you got the cash.

Picking it up with a used tank.. Do you think they are good for a 60 gallon cube that would house mostly LPS?

I agree with MXC207 they do ok, but the colors that pop from the corals with the newer "full" spectrum leds make it worth the switch. Since you have the sols you can get upgrades to the vegas or the hydras for just a couple hundred bucks. Much better than paying full price for the newer models.
I'd say they will work just fine for a mostly LPS tank. I'd at least run them for awhile to see how you like the results before you spend money on something else.

I am doing one on the 60 gallon cube.. Looks like it should work well. How do you get a discount on the upgrade?

The vega is there, it just doesn't show up with the rest of the stuff.

You will also have to check your power supplies and make sure they will work with the upgrades. If you need to upgrade those as well they can be found much cheaper other places online. You just have to cross it to a compatible model. There was a thread floating around here of someone that found compatable power supplies off ebay.
