So I have 3 AI Sols. I'm wondering if upgrading them to Vegas' would even be worth the $$. $600 is a lot of scratch.

    Thoughts?

Its is quite a bit, but to buy them new would be like 1500 bucks. Im thinking about upgrading to the vegas, but its not a priority to me.

You can also chain Sols and Vegas together.

What would be the benefit of Vegas over Sols. I guess I'm not clear on why one would be preferrable to the other.

Jus got my vegas goin and they are badass. Wayyy better coverage with the lenses and the lights themselves are just way brighter. 5w led vs 3w and theyre wireless.

They are full spectrum, vs just blue and white with the sol.

But are they $600 better? I just got my Sols less than a year ago and was planning on them being my lights for a while.

If you join the tank tour on sun you can see my vegas next to sols right next to each other and see the difference. But i say its worth it. Hell i say its worth the 1600 to jus go new.

I've got a 180, too. Only running 3 Sols. Seems to get pretty good light throughout the tank. Maybe not. Here's what it looks like:

It looks like you replace everything but heatsink and power supply. If that is the case could one take your old components, add a heat sink and power supply to your existing equipment and have Sol's again?

That's what I was thinking Roman, but there has to be more. If that is indeed the case everyone would just be buying the upgrade kit and slapping it on there own heatsink.

I might have to pick one up to see what the deal is.
Either way the sols still fetch about $300 used. I'd sell and buy new then you're still only out about $200 but you have a brand new unit.

I had talked to them a few months ago regarding the upgrade and they told me you would have to give them the serial number off of your sol's to register them so you couldn't buy multiple upgrades.
