Ok, so I start dosing alk and it precipitates instantly when it touched the water and looks like it's snowing in the sump.

Anyone know chemically what's going on here?

I mixed mine with ro and then slowly added to system. It'll cloud up right away but slowly disappears

It needs to be dumped into a high flow area and added slowly. A little at a time.

What are you dosing for Alk? Are you dosing calcium at the same time?

    Brs soda ash.

Something has to be out of wack but can't identify it.

I dose calcium but it's on a doser.

Every 15 min it alternate from calc dose to alk dose.

I'll try diluting it down with r/o more.

All the parameters are in check cept alk.

If diluting doesn't work I'm just gunna break down and do a massive water change.

It used to dissolve and disapear instantly. Now it's a snowstom. I'll get a pic.

It's a very slow dose in a crazy high flow area in my sump.

Diluting it before dosing fixed the issue.

I'm still curious as to why it just started happening all of a sudden.

Might have to mix my solution just a tad more watered down then adjust my doser.

    Ug extra work...

I believe the esv stuff I have said something on the label about the issue. Can't remember if it was about freezing or settling because it sat for to long.

What does your magnesium and calcium test on your system?
I run brs 2 part system also and never had the precipitation problem. I mix just like the directions.

I would stop alternating Cal with Alk. I think generally you should dose Cal consecutively and then Alk consecutively. I dose my Calcium during daylight hours so the light helps keep the pH high. At night I dose alk so it keeps the pH high when the lights are off. There's about a 4 hour gap from when each of my dosing periods ends and the other begins.

Also if you check out this video, at the end it says the BRS alkalinity normally clouds up when initially added to water.

Don't worry about dosing times. As long as your dosing alkalinity part and calcium part at least 5 or 10 minutes apart you won't have any problems. If you have pH problems add a refugium or dose some kalk. 10 minutes is plenty of time for it to be mixed if added in a high flow area.
I spread my doses like alkalinity at top of the hour. Then calcium 10 minutes later. Then magnesium 10 minutes after that. Dosed 24 times a day each part. I have a small powerhead that the additives drip right above and no precipitation problems.
Sounds like one of your parameters is way out of whack , and causing problems. I would check magnesium.

Yeah, you guys called it I bet. I overlooked the most overlooked supplement, mg+
I just hate doing that damn Red Sea test kit.
I have the Sailfert mg kit coming tomarrow. Hope it's not a pain like the Red Sea one is.
I'll go check my mg right now and report back.

Thanks for all the help guys. It truly is appreciated.
