I prefer late muzzie (best time to pattern big bucks on food sources) but often go early because a buddy of mine likes to go then.  I own land in Madison and Appanoose counties.

I am going bear hunting in WI for the first time ever in September - took 5 years to get drawn for a tag.  Hunting on a friend's land.  Am also planning on going archery for this hunt.  He keeps sending me trail cam pics from the bait site he set up for me so that gets the adrenline going a bit!  Good luck in Maine!

I heard it took anywhere from 5-7 years to get a tag that's crazy, the place in Maine guarantees a tag at purchase and I double checked on that when I called. I'm trying to find a few others to come with so hopefully someone wants to join so I'll actually get to go this year

Black bear hunting is great! I've done it twice (succesfully too!) and can't wait till my baby girl gets bigger so I can do it again. I went to Ear Falls, Ontario both times, and it was pretty reasonable too. $1000 for the hunting and fishing too. The mosquitos really sucked bad, but a head net goes along way to curing that. Good luck with your hunt!
