I'm currently experiencing pink eye for the third time in about two years now. Never had them really before. It seems like every time I have gotten them has been a few days after I had water splash up at me and in my eye. But this last time I may have accidently rubbed my eye after having my hands in my tank. Im always pretty good about making sure to wash my hands when I'm done in my tanks. Just wondered if anyone else had this issue or its just me?

Pink eye( conjunctivitis) is usually viral in nature. Most docs don't treat it with antibiotics anymore. It's symptomatic relief with warm compresses and methods to decrease inflammation. Sounds more like the eye or lining (conjunctiva) is inflamed. Possibly by saltwater or by who knows what. I had pink eye once that I got from my daughter. Miserable couple of days . Been doing saltwater for almost 20 years and can't say I have ever got it from saltwater though.

Did you have it diagnosed by a doctor? It could be a bacterial infection, that could make more sense?

The last two times I got it yes, I went to the Dr. I didn't go this time because there was no point as I have the eye drops already. My family Dr told me last time if I got it again I needed to go to my eye Dr. I have just been putting warm wash rags on my eye and drops in. I never had it before but maybe one time when I was younger. But I distinctly remember the last two times water splashing up out of my tank directly into my eye. This time that did not happen. But I do think I may have rubbed my eye not thinking about it.

The last two times when going to the Dr I told her about the saltwater splashing up into my eye so she put me on reg antibiotics as well as she agreed it could likely be bacterial as well. But she wasn't sure so told me to avoid work for at least one day as to not spread it.

Hmmmm,.. I hate to see anyone suffer. I think you should get out of the hobby. I will take your equipment off your hands. I am that nice of a guy. "just kidding" Hope you figure it out. You can always get a pair of safety goggles or non prescription glasses to wear when messing with your tank. At least it would stop you from instinctly rubbing your eyes while you were maintaining your tank. I know its not ideal, just trying to help.

Lol tried that as I do wear prescription glasses. Apparently it didn't stop me from wanting to rub my eye. Lol that's great you would be so willing to take everything off my hands though. I'm sure you and several others anyway. Lol

    Are you touching zoas?

My skin breaks out on my arms when I mess around with coral too much. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with coral toxins.
