    Help Wanted:
    Aquarium Maintenance Specialist
    This is a great job for anyone who enjoys working with aquariums, their inhabitants and their owners (our customers).


    Overview:
    We are currently taking applications for the position of Aquarium Maintenance Specialist to serve the Des Moines, IA Market. This position consists of a combination of aquarium maintenance responsibilities as well as other tasks to be performed as assigned.

    Primary Job Duties Include:
    Cleaning of aquariums in both residential and commercial settings

    Scuba diving into large aquariums and performing maintenance and cleaning while underwater

    Identifying and treating fish disease

    Applying preventive measures to deter fish disease

    Installation, maintenance and repair of aquariums and aquarium components (lights, skimmers, pumps etc)

    Delivery of fish and fish products

    Feeding fish and monitoring fish health

    Moving aquariums

    Visiting potential clients, explain maintenance program and gather information needed for creating an estimate

    Recording daily activities, including detailed time logs and product delivery

    Minimal Job Requirements:
    Professional or personal experience with aquarium maintenance

    Ability to perform the 'Primary Job Duties' listed above with minimal training requirements

    Knowledge of aquarium systems (salt water, fresh water and reef tanks) and their components

    Knowledge of aquarium environments and their chemical and biological structures

    Scuba diving certification (If not certified at time of hire, Reef Tectonics will reimburse for certification upon successful completion of certification requirements)

    Strong interest in fish and aquatic environments

    Must be responsible and able to work independently

    Must demonstrate good oral communication and customer service skills

    Must enjoy working with people, be self motivated and organized.

    Good driving record-(subject to approval by Reef Tectonics Insurance Provider)

    Employee must provide own transportation (see mileage reimbursement under benefits).

    Employee must be able to lift a minimum of (80#)-(2) 5-gallon buckets of water simultaneously

    Employee will be required to be on-call during non-scheduled work hours

    Benefits:
    Starting wage of $14.00 per hour

    Paid Time Off (PTO)

    Mileage reimbursement for use of personal vehicle (currently 20 cents per mile for eligible miles) *

    Other:
    A condition of hire requires signing a non-compete/non-disclosure contract.

    Applicant will be required to provide a copy of valid driver's license, current copy of driving record, current registration, and proof of insurance.**

    *Eligible miles include those miles driven for the benefit of Reef Tectonics, Inc and does not include those miles which an employee would otherwise drive to commute to and from work each day. Mileage reimbursement rates are adjusted quarterly to reflect changes in fuel prices.

    **It is strongly recommended that you obtain an endorsement on your auto insurance for use of your personal vehicle for work.

    Hiring Process:
    Suitable applicants will be contacted to arrange a phone interview.  All phone interviews will be reviewed with management and applicants will be selected for a second interview.  Once we feel like we have found the best candidate from the applicants, a background check, including criminal record, motor vehicle report and full reference check will be obtained.

    The add just gave a website for details, it is www.reeftectonics.com. They said on their website that they are going to open a position in Des Moines.

    Wow, if I was 30 years younger, used to be a certified diver then, would have been a dream job for a while! lol
