I have two tanks getting ready to cycle with a common sump. One will be SPS only, one will be LPS, zoas only.

I really want several deep water fish, and the key to their health is to keep the water cooler, around 73-75 most of the year.

I know my SPS growth would be much slower, but just wondering if anyone keeps a successful tank with these temps?

That is what I am worried about is the SPS not growing.

I am interested to see progress on this. I don't run my tanks that cool. Mine usually range 78-80.

How are you gonna keep them in that range? Are you going to go led lights with a chiller?

LED lights, and it is in my basement that stays cool all year long. Most I will do is run a fan across the water to keep it cooler.

Time to plan a separate system for the deep water fish.

Have you decided on which led yet? Just curious. I am kinda playing around with led lights. Just wondering what everyone likes to use and why?
Sorry if I am derailing thread.

No problem at all, I should probably do a build thread.

I got an incredible deal about a year ago when they were phasing out the hydra 26's. I am running 9 on the SPS system, and probably 8 on the LPS system.

I am running the cheap Chinese fixtures over the refugiums.

I used marsaqua lights before they worked great with sps and LPS zoas didn't grow to well might have been because I had it to strong. Thats what im using over my new 125 build

When I had my system running I targeted 76-77 and played around with 75 range. Sps grew very quickly for me down to the 75 range. If growth was slowed I wasn't able to tell, but I fed sps sized food a lot.
