That is an industrial Bulb john. They are completely different than a Reef Bulb Nope no good at all, worse than an Ebay bulb most probably. People try and try to save money on bulbs but so far I have not heard one success story except for buying used. I just bought 2 used XM 10K's.

Why would you pay the electricity costs to put halides above FOWLR? I single 40 watt tube serves that purpose. But i think that bulb will just grow Algae like was mentioned.

Ya do not use those bulbs! the Kalvin range is probbley only 3500 to maybe 4000 if your lucky, deffenetly not for any type of corals.

If you must have the shimmer effect look to a smaller watt M/H like 75w but stay in at least the 10,000 to 20,000 kalvin range. You wont need all that wattage for a FOWLR tank.

LED's give some shimmer as they are still point source lighting, your cost would be significantly reduced in the long run if you just by a LED tube.

yeah i saw some bulbs that had led's on them (http://www.724depot.com/en/e27-super-bright-white-38-led-light-bulb-lamp-230v.html) i thought it would be cool to get some of those and build a light to hang over it
