Well, Curt at Neptune says that my DC8 that was mounted on a ceiling was water damaged and there is nothing wrong with it.  I disagreed with him and requested a refund for the product, and was told "Refunds are not possible".
So, I have an appointment with a lawyer tomorrow morning and am suing Neptune for cost of equipment, and loss of livestock.
It turns out "Curt" is actually the CEO of the company; I found out when we tried to get his legal departments information.
I just can't say strongly enough this is a piece of **** device and that the customer service of Neptune is so bad that....well, so bad that I am suing them.
My advice is to avoid this company at all costs.

I would think that if you are suing the company that it might be advisable for you to refrain from further discoverable discussion of this topic on the internet.

Agreed its too easy for them to get ahold of this forum and use it against you.  We understand you dont like the product and that is all you need to say.

I am sorry you have had this experience. I have had two neptune controllers over about 5 years and have nothing but great things to say about the product and their support. I have met Curt, he and I helped Dirk tear down and load up at the Orlando MACNA. There was no reason that Curt had to do that, he just helped.
I am sorry you have had this experience Jeff. I just want people to know others have had great experiences with Neptune and I am one.

I got mine at Aquacave. I love 'em, but others here don't. Marine depot also sells them.

Sorry man but it is in their fine print.

"Neptune Systems is not responsible for any damages including, but not limited to, consequential damage occurring out of or in connection with the delivery, use or performance of Neptune Systems' products."

Companies in this industry protect themselves.

I also have hadgood luck with Aquacave but haven't ordered from there in about a year. Sounds like others have had numerous problems there lately. You can also usually find used AC3's on Reef Centrals For Sale forum or on Ebay. Also I think Ninja was considering selling his to upgrade, Matt?

I ordered my Apex from Aquacave. It didnt come with the other things I ordered, I think it comes from the factory so it took a few more days to get it. Its to bad Jeff has had his problems, I love my APEX!!

OK...everyone knows I love my Apex. I gotta say Jeff, you've had more problems with your Neptune stuff than anyone else I've ever heard of. AC3s can be found for as little as $250 for head unit, pH probe, temp probe, and DC8. It's a great device...very stable. Some might say more stable than the Apex...but is not as feature rich as the Apex.

I have an AC3 and it does its job like I expect. From what I have got from most of your threads about your Apex is you are asking too much from it. A controller is meant to make things easier on your reef but not make it completely self sufficient. You need to have back up plans in place if the controller fails. My advice is pull your controller and do things the old fashioned way for a while so you can now how it really is to keep a reef tank.

Also want to wish you luck with sueing Neptune. These companies hire high end lawyers to cover themselves in cases like this. At most you might get your money back for the controller if your lucky.

I just found an AC3 on RC for $150 shipped without the DC8, but with lab grade pH, lab grade ORP probe, and temp probe.  Since I'm going to be using this as a redundant controller (compare AC3 values to my Apex values), and not for any automation, it was perfect for my situation.  There are deals out there to be had if you look hard enough.
