I was wondering if we could do a DIY on an all in one reef food, suitable for fish and corals.
I've heard of this before, and I know there are some good recipes out there. What do you guys think?

I think they were trying to work that into the schedule sometime this year, but not sure when.
I believe the main thing on the agenda for April is the CR tank tour.

Dang, that sucks. Shouldn't we be discussing something useful, just my opinion. A meeting for a tank tour, seems like a waste of time. Not saying I don't want to see everyone's tanks, but I'd rather not waste my gas, and find something more constructive to do with my time.

Tank tours are a very useful activity.   Its a way to get hobbyist from the club into your home and check out your tank, filtration.  If you having issues with your tank or just want other ideas to improve your setup.  Its a great way to bounce ideas around with other hobbyist. For newbies in the hobby its a lot of visual ideas they can turn around and use in their own setup, they also have time to ask questions. Why you did this or why you did that?   Its also a time where some of the more successful hobbyist have to show off what they have achieved.
I think the DIY food meeting should be put in the schedule for May.  Its a subject that keeps coming up year after year, and we should make it an annual meeting.   I was involved with one years ago and it was some of the best fish/coral food that I have ever used.  May is scheduled for a plumbing meeting which could be moved to another month. And we could do a DIY food then.
This is the recipe that we used

I am really looking forward to the CR tank tour, I just hope that we get some new volunteers so we can see some new tanks.

That was rude. If you don't have something useful to say, just keep it to yourself and save the oxygen for someone else who has something constructive to say. K thanks

When is the tour in April? Depending upon the day I would volunteer my place as a stop. I am in Hiawatha though. Currently working on moving from my 135 to a 210 so not 100% sure if the switch will be done in time but I'll try.

If you dont mind the drive Money Mike you could go to the Des Moines group meeting and join in on the DIY food project they are having. I was thinking about going and if I do I'd be willing to car pool and split the cost of gas.

Yea, Im down for that Raven. Beats a tank tour, phff.  Bobov50 wants to be in on this as well, so we could definitely make the drive to Des Moines! As soon as I figure out the dates, talk to Bud about it, I'll get the ball rolling. It would only cost 10$ in gas to get there, so I'm not worried about the gas money.

No tank tours here. My German Shepherd doesn't take lightly when it comes to strangers, and I don't blame him. With a crowd of people, it would just be a no no... Sorry.
I would just need a notice, so in time later this year, y'all can tour my tank. I refuse to lock my dog up, I didn't spend 3500$ on him to be tucked away in a closet lol.

Let me know. Tank tours are still great learning experiences. I went to the one last year and won some snails but the biggest thing I won was a new respect for people in the community. One for letting us into their homes and all crowd around their tank. People take their tanks as a trophy. Mine was no where near that last year, still doesn't compare to those tanks that I have seen but I am still a newb in my book. So I'll be attending this tour and I plan to be a stop if I can this year that way I can have liek 20 people all in my basement telling me what will make my tank better and then those same people try and pon off stuff they have laying around which I CANT WAIT FOR since I am getting a 210 setup hopefully in the next week or 2 so I can get things moved over before the tour.

and Yes I agree we do need to cover some other topics such as DIY food. I missed the DIY LED meeting and that makes me mad! I plan to play host to a meeting later in the year as well Just want to get the wedding out of the way and then get all of the wedding crap moved out so I can have room to get my tank going like I want it.

Everything will play out in the end. Their are things that you want and things that others want. All wants will be granted just in due time.

Tank tours are really useful. You see what someone else is doing right and what they're doing wrong /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif I love seeing others people's tank to see different species of fish and coral and hear first hand what they're like to care for, etc., a fish store won't always tell you or they don't know sometimes, depending on the store. I like to see what equipment people are using and how they have plumbing hooked up etc. With the LED craze going on, it's great to see all the different LED fixtures popping up and discuss how they're working out on their tank. You also get to meet people in the club and talk about their set-ups. Great way to get a lot of info and ideas.......

Ok, so I mixed it up a bit and MIT have wrote some things that could be misinterpreted. I see the value of tank tours, honestly, so I'm not knocking any of you down. Sorry if it came off like that. Black runner, my response to you wasn't out of anger, and could definitely be interpreted to telling you to stfu.. Not my intentions. I misinterpreted your wording, so I apologize. If we are planning a DIY food in May, that would be great.

I realize setting up meetings takes a lot of time and energy out of our lives, as we are all really busy. So just to clarify, those were not an attack, although it could be taken that way. One big happy family right? /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

    Toodles y'all!

Mike too bad you cant be apart of that tour. There are a lot of experienced members in your area and can lend a hand in help troubleshoot the small issues your tank has been having. Plus you didnt spend $XXXXX on a Display tank not to display it. Whats the point of a guard dog if he cant be told friend from foe haha. I understand your situation there, My staffordshire terrier is the opposite though. He gets incredibly excited and hyper around new people. But his instincts are spot on when it comes to suspicious people.

This is true lol, but I have him because I was robbed a few years back by my friends. Great Friends huh lol. So when I bought the dog, I trained him in PSA. Protect serve and aid. He's usually ok with me around and a friend or two, just gets nervous with a ton of people around. I'm working on it. I'm trying to get my mother to take him to the cabin when the time comes.

    We'll see I hope lol
