I'm considering selling my Neptune Systems Aqua Controller III system.    It has been working flawlessly for a couple of years now.   I'm thinking about selling it because I may need to upgrade to the Apex to support my LED lights.
This is a great controller.  It has the built in ethernet & web server so AquaNotes software is NOT required for remote monitoring.
    Here's what I'm thinking:
AC III Base UnitDC-8 Power BarpH probe (standard)Temp probe (standard)
Price: $300 ($275 for club members)

If you decide to part out. I would be interested in the DC8.

No, you have to have an Apex if you want full control of AI's.

The AC3 with an AquaSurf module will do the same thing. It's just variable power control.

Really? I didn't know that... I actually have an Aquasurf too.

I'm gonna adjust the price a little...

    AC3 System: $230 member / $250 non-member.

    I'll throw in the AquaSurf for $70 member / $75 non-member

Note, I can't let this go until I have an Apex up and running. Craig is out of them right now, so it might be a week or two...

Yeah, the variable speed ports on the Apex base unit are the same as the AquaSurf...basically a built-in AquaSurf.  If you need to control more than four independent devices, you can buy the VDM adds two more variable speed ports (but most people buy it for the serial port which allows AI LED control) which allows for controlling 4 more devices.

Is the serial port good for anything more than just controlling AI's? Can you build an adaptor to convert it into additional variable speed ports?

The problem I'm going to have is that I have 9 devices to control with the variable speed ports. Between the Apex and the Aquasurf (or a VMD) I'm only going to be able to control 8. I guess worst case I could just put my wavebox back on it's own controller and that would solve the issue.

Sorry JB, I don't know the answer to that one...I think it's dedicated to AI devices. There is no pinout of the connection in the users guide for that module. That would be a good question to ask on the RC Neptune Systems forum or send an e-mail to Curt.
