I recently got a 5 led strip to replace a 150 halide.  I know it sounds crazy, but the 5 led strip has more shimmer and still makes my softies and sps happy.  The " brightness" is about 20% less(guessing here), but the color is awesome.  Of course the power consumption is far less and the lifespan is ten years with very little drop off.  Its only been a week so I will keep you all posted.
Is anyone else running the type of leds?  If so I was wondering how you liked them.
    Thanks, Chris

I haven't heard of anyone running those. I did some research online and when I can afford it I'm going to buy several and link 'em all together. LED lighting is by far the best, at least from the stuff that I've read about it. I'm interested to hear how the do for your tank.

A good friend of mine is running a group of the same led strips and they are on a controller. The strips were $150 each and the controller was 300. The controller simulates lightning storms and dawn to dusk lighting, the lightning is very realistic. I hope to get some pics up soon for comparison. I am running two hamilton 150 14k mogul base modular units and the one 5 led strip 14k. I might try switching them around for comparison after some pics are taken for documentation. These are on a 125 btw.

I am running six of the Aqua Ray 500 LED strips with the multi controller on my 110gal reef tank. I have a mix of the reef whites and marine blue strips. The whites have 3 14K led's and 2 50K led's. The blues have 3 50K led's and 2 14K led's. All of that being said I really like these lights. They bring out great colors in my corals and have great shimmer. The lights are to new for me to say what growth is like but I will post updates as my tank matures.
