My daughter brought home a math assignment early this week.  She had to pick a 3D object and reduce or enlarge it to scale.  She and my wife were throwing around suggestions as I walked into the room and jokingly said she should do our living room aquarium.  Somehow the idea stuck and ended up being assigned to me to build and her to provide measurements, sand, and stain.  So, we are almost done, it is due tomorrow.  We still have to put the door on, stain it, and add the filter, light, rock and fish.  I'll post another pic once its complete and full.  Let me know what you think.

You know, I hadn't really thought about using it after she was done but you are right, that would make a very cool desktop pico setup. Thanks for the idea!

Finished it up last night.   the lid and front door are hinged and open, there is an LED strip inside the hood and room for a tiny HOB filter on the back.  After all that work, I hope she gets an A, lol.

I think you and your daughter both deserve an A. She is very lucky to have parents that are willing to be involved.

Thanks everyone! I have four sons and its usually them I have involved in projects, it was nice to get to do one with my daughter. She said that kids kept coming up to her in the hall at school all day asking if she was the person who made the aquarium, then telling her how cool it was. It is nice to see a little positive attention come from other kids as school, as you all know that doesn't always happen. It was totally worth the time. Now the teacher wants to know if she can keep it as an example for other classes and future years, I dunno..... :)
