Been having a ton of trouble finding the right settings for my four foot wide 125. I have it set at 25w 35B 40 RB. if I go any higher stuff seem to blah. I've lost a few corals. But nothing seems to be thriving at the lower settings.

    Help?

How high above the tank are the lights? The sols really need to be at least a foot over the water line. It sounds like you don't have enough light. On a tank that big you should be able to crank them up higher than that. The 4 over my tank are 100% on the blues and about 85 on the whites I think.

The thing about the sols is they have 2 different lens angles. So immediately under the 40 deg lenses you can have some serious coral bleaching par while just outside of that the par can really drop. If you can't raise the lights try swapping out the 40 deg lenses for all 70 deg.

Have you checked par readings? That would be another good idea. Move corals or adjust light intensity to better suit your tank and lighting.

I read your first post wrong, I thought you said you were bleaching when you cranked them up.
I bet they seem dim, they are. Slowly crank them up. I would say you can take it up to 75%+ on the blues. and 50%+ on the whites. You'll probably want to keep it heavier with the blues for some decent color, but to really make a difference IMO it takes lighting that covers more spectrum than the white and blues. Violets, and red and greens in small amounts really make a difference. I added the T5s to my sol blues and like the look much better. Some time I will upgrade to the hydras and vegas to get all the colors in there.

You need to crank em way up. I got bad advice when i first got my sols and lost alot of expensive corals cause it was too low. I run my sols around 90%.

I do a 1 hour ramp from 10 to 11 to the percentages I listed earlier till 7pm, then a 1 hour ramp to 8pm to the moon lights.
Just haven't had time to play much with the other timers.

Now I did have to keep an eye on some of the coral and move a few here and there.

Honestly you just need to check your par and then you will know everything you need to know. But I run my ai sols at 80/80/80 over my frag tank

The par meter is in CR with me right now Jason, I don't believe there has been any requests to use it, so you're free to come get it once you renew your membership anyway. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default/emoticons/wink.gif

Hey dead I have 4 above my 60 inch tank. I cant get the growth or get my corals to look good. I'm going on 2 years with them. Some stuff looks ok but zoas look awful. I don't get it. I'm tempted to go back to t5s or upgrade to a different led.
