I recently noticed I had some kind of blackish-greyish mold growing in the bottom of my ATO reservoir.  I keep a powerhead in there to keep water circulating 24/7.  However, I haven't cleaned the reservoir out in probably 6 months.  So it has caused me to question what I've been doing.  My basic questions at this point are...
Should you keep a powerhead in your ATO reservoir?
How often should you clean your reservoir?
How should you clean your reservoir (rinse and dry, bleach, vinegar, baking soda, etc)?
Should you keep your reservoir covered?

    Thanks!

I don't think this is too uncommon, however the growth needs to be feeding off of something, be it something in the water (either residual after the RO/DI, leaching from the container, etc.) or something being introduced after the fact. I personally run kalk in my ATO, which raises the pH drastically, thus virtually eliminating the chances of such growth.

I see no need for a powerhead in an ATO reserve of RO/DI. You absolutely should clean it, with bleach (just a quick spray, wipe, rinse, let dry well and the bleach is gone). Probably monthly. And yes keep covered. This is all just what my gut tells me.
