Had to use the back up power source last night. lost power to house for about an hour in last nights storm. even though it was a short time it was nice to have every
thing working and relax . had my genator in my detach garage and back feed to the house it worked great. Course had to wire up the plug quick and just start it.
Reminder note (keep clean gas in it) Thanks Rich[IMG]

Is a Generator the only way to back up power
    For 6 hours or so?

Depends on where you live. Ice storm of 20?? (cant remember year) we had no power for 11 days. Generator definitely. You city folks usually have an advantage over us that live out in the sticks.[IMG][IMG]

Well I could help ya get a battery back up unit but we need to know how much wattage you are looking to keep powered up. With that I may be able to find you a solution to mount under your tank. A generator would work but you need to have it outside and wired back into the house and depending upon the size you may even power the whole residence. They can be noisey though. I work with APC so I can get some decent deals on battery backups.

I personally have one of these for my tanks: http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SMT2200&total_watts=50 they run about $850 though and I can monitor it over my network. I also have 2 of these: http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=SUA5000RMT5U&total_watts=50 for my server room since I do a lot of web development I can't have my servers offline either. I am working on getting a generator installed but that'll wait til I get my garage / new server room built in the next year or two.
