So i placed a order from reefs2go a little over a week ago, after i added the fish 2 days later all my fish ended up with velvet within about 6 or so days 12 of my fish died, now im down to no fish in my reef tank. any ideas how long i should go without putting fish back in there, i was told 4-5 months i went through the big boddle of ich remover whatever its called. its still cycling but i wasnt for sure if i still had to wait that long or not?

I don't know that it is necessarily fair to point the blame at this company. Anything that you purchase as a wild-caught specimen (and even tank-raised for the sake of argument) has the potential to bring something unwanted into your tank regardless of what facility you got it from.

No so far it hasnt harmed any of the corals all my corals are still doing good but all my fish are dead. and as far as the hospital tank goes i have one set up but it was impossible to catch any of my fish to move them to the hospital i have about 200 lbs of rock with corals spread out all over the rocks and the second i tried to put a net in they were gone, i also tried to use a fish trap and that didnt work either they were to scared of it and they went and disapeared. And Bela as far as blaming it on reefs2go i know it was them because i have had the same fish in the tank now for well over 6 months and they have all been doing great then i got my order from reefs2go and a couple days later they all ended up with velvet. i understand what your saying though but when they all are healthy until i get a order in from a company and then a couple days later they all start dying its kinda obvious what happened.

So you are blaming the company because you didn't quarantine your new livestock properly?

I would just chalk this one as "lesson learned" and quarantine everything for a certain amount of time before you stick anything new into your precious tank.

Quarantining new arrivals is common practice to most and can be devastating if overlooked as you had to find out the hard way.

I am sorry for your loss but to blame the loss of all your fish on them isn't right at all.

ok well i really dont care any more, this wasnt a post to argue about i was trying to get the word out that i got a case of velvet from reefs2go so if you want to make a order from them then go ahead and see what happens, and i also posted this because it was more of a question post asking "how long should i wait to put fish back in the tank so i can make sure they dont get velvet. i didnt know how long it lived with no fish in the tank"
