Looked into my tank the other night and my female is a carrying eggs. How long til they're ready? Do I take her out now?

I thought it was the male that carried eggs? But either way congrats. Were you intending to breed them and raise the fry, or did it just happen? If you don't have everything ready to raise the babies I wouldn't even worry about it on this round. There will be more eggs.

Yes the male carry the eggs for the most part, but they will switch them over to female to eat in some cases. Mine have done this many times in my tank, but they never carry out the process.

Good luck Justin! They would have to be taken out and put in there own tank I think.

You will need to catch the male about 3 weeks after you notice the eggs in his mouth. Tank mates will eat the babies.
After the babies are spit out, you are supposed to feed newly hatched baby brine, they are like sea monkey eggs that hatch when placed in saltwater for a day. I soaked mine in selcon as well.
After 3 or 4 days I started feeding Hikari Frye food from petco or petsmart. 15-20 survived to about the size of a dime and I gave them away.

I raised mine in the sump/Refugium, most deaths were victims of getting sucked into the return pump.

My pajama cardinals spawn about once a month but the male always spits them out early. I'm going to move them to my frag tank when I get it up.

It wasn't planned just happened. I'm guessing it's been about 10 days as he stays secluded and doesn't eat. The real task will be catching him.

Catching him is the hardest part. Eventually youll see little eyes and fish swimming in his mouth. When catch him in a week or so and mo ve to the sump or another tank. (The hardest part for sure).
Mine was enexpected as well, that is why I did it so half assed.
I would mention that the male was out of the display for about 5 days. When I put him back in he was malnourished from not eating for a month and weak. The female killed him in pretty short order.
