Let’s make a long story short, shall we? We are moving to
New England (Boston’s North Shore to be a little more specific) in September.
We are super excited, but with that excitement comes a tad bit of sadness too.
Because we are looking at buying a place out there, and because we will likely
rent something month to month for the first couple of months while we look, we
have decided to sell the tank. One cross country move is enough, but
potentially having to move the tank, though a much shorter distance the second
time, will likely be too much work and place undue stress on the livestock. We
love the tank and would rather see everything thrive!

I am going to try and price this thing to sell as a package.
Generally I wouldn’t be opposed to breaking things up, but anyone that knows me
knows I am home at the strangest hours of the day. Coordinating multiple people
to come by and break this thing apart just isn’t in the picture. Realistically
I have until about the end of August to sell, so there is no immediate rush for
me to get this thing out of the house.
For those who haven’t seen the system, it is essentially all
SPS, with a few LPS in there (I will get a livestock list at the end of this
posting). It contains about 40lb of live rock and 20lb of live aragonite sand.
I will get some pictures uploaded, which certainly will not do this thing
justice, as the lighting is all LED and the only camera I have is on my iPhone,
so I urge you to come and see it.
Let’s start with a list of the goodies you get. I have added
the retail values of each item. Of course I realize that once water touches an
item in this hobby, retail goes out the door, but it’s a comparison of costs,
    if you bought this new.
I realize this is a huge wall of text, so I will point out again that these aren't part out prices, I have just listed retail prices, as best I could, on all parts of my setup.

$279.99 - Oceanice Biocube 29 (there are some light
scratches on the glass. Nothing too terrible, and nothing a picture will pick
up, but I can point them out if you come take a look. The most noticeable
blemish is on the left side. I have also added fans to the back chamber of the
hood that blow directly on the water for evaporative cooling.)
    $139.99 – Oceanic Biocube 29 Stand
~$250 – 22 bulb XP-G LED retrofit dimmable (when looking at
the tank itself, everything looks completely stock. The back of the hood has
been modified (still looks clean) to aid in evaporative cooling.)
$135 – CPR SR3 Skimmer (I have been very happy with this
thing. It pulls out more gunk than my Tunze, and is also much easier to clean.
I modified the air intake to reduce noise, but I do believe I have the original
piece as well. The skimmer fits into the middle chamber of the biocube,
    preserving that stock look.)
$275 – Vortech MP10w ES (this is just over a year old. Never
had issues with it, and wet side gets a nice vinegar soak every 2-3 months. )
    $195 – Tunze Osmolator 3155/ 5017 auto top-off unit. (Tunze
actually just replaced the controller part of this for me, so you are
essentially looking at a 3 month old unit. And yes, this is the current
generation with the sensors on magnets. I currently use this as my kalkwasser
doser out of a 5 gallon Home Depot bucket, which has been doing me very well. I
put the calcium hydroxide right into the ATO tank, which gets mixed up well
about 1-2 times per week. The pump gets a nice vinegar soak monthly.)
    $190 ($120 + $70) – Reefkeeper Lite (Basic) and ALC (The two
main things I use this unit for are for temperature correction (fans + heater)
as well as controlling the dimming on the LEDs (MLC unit). I currently have my
lights at a 12 hour on time, which includes a 90 minute ramp up and ramp down
cycle. Essentially the lights start at 0% and take a full 90 minutes to get to
full, which I have set around 70%. This ramp time can be changed if you like,
or even removed. The max light output can also be easily changed.) This unit is
not currently NOT online enabled as is, but a module can be added for right
    around $100.
~$100? – MRC calcium reactor (I believe it is rated for up
to 150 gallons. I do not have the CO2 tank or a solenoid valve. I bight this
with the intention of setting it up but the kalk has been working beautifully.
The more SPS grows out, the more likely something like this can be utilized.
Right now I am dumping 3-4 gallons of kalk into the tank per week which has
    been perfectly sufficient).
So above  is the powerhouse that keeps things going,
here is the misc. additional stuff I will throw in:[/b]
$16 – Fish Saver Guard by in tank (keeps fishes from making
it into the back chamber area. Also keeps most light from leaking out the back
of the tank and keeps things looking stock).
$10 – TLF Nano Mag (this thing looks puny but it is awesome.
It has a much smaller profile than any magnet I have seen and will easily get
between the glass and your livestock. I have a clam that loves to get close to
the left from corner of the tank and this little magnet helps me clean the
glass where the clam hangs out. The only bummer is that it doesn’t float, but
is surprisingly strong and hasn’t really caused any issues)
$50 – Marine Depot “Blue Box” Refractometer (I had separate
calibration fluid that I bought separately, which will be thrown in if I can
    locate it.)
$5 – Formula TWO small pellet (about 2/3 of the 7oz. jar)
    $15 – Coral RX (about 3/4 of 8oz bottle)
$20 – Reef chili (about 4/5 of 1.5 ox jar – corals love this
    stuff!)
$10 – GIRS Club DIY Reef Mix (2 bags I think)
$40? – PE Mysis Cube Flats (I have 5-8 of these, not sure
how many, so I just threw a dollar value up there)
$10 – Two bags of frag plugs. A couple plugs are used (I
like to break my frags off that I buy whenever I can)
    $30 - 150g (3/4 of 200g box) Reef Crystals
I will be sure to add
a livestock list here shortly. But as a recap:[/b]
    ~ 40lb live rock (there
are some aiptasia, but manageable, and haven’t noticed them bothering anything
    [/i])
    ~ 20lb live sand
~ Large colony (takes up the upper left quadrant of the
    tank) green slimmer
~ 16 various frags/mini colonies, half of which are
encrusted to rockwork ( will get some better names and pics as best I can. I
don’t really have anything ultra-premium that warrants $500 for a one eye frag,
but these also aren’t necessarily run of the mill plain pieces, for the most
    part)
~ Soft ball size derasa clam, baseball sized blue squamosal clam
~ various snails, 2 emerald crabs, 2 peppermint shrimp,
    yellow sea cucumber
                    I’d say
the livestock alone I have spent in the ballpark of $500, maybe a little more

    So what’s this guy
    asking?[/b]
I’d like $1,200 OBO. At that price I will throw in two
tickets to MACNA 2012 in Dallas Texas. We were planning on driving from IA, but
we are now going to be some 2000 miles away and with a move and wedding coming
up we simply won’t have the time. They were $75 a pop at the time, and are
currently $129. They’ll go up to about $200, if I am not mistaken, just before
the event. You can even sell them on RC shortly before the event for a couple
hundred bucks together, based on previous years’ sales.  Yeah, I know it’s a lot, but it’s far less
than even piecing it together with used equipment would be. If you are reading
this, you either read through the list (so you know it’s about as turn-key as
it gets) or you skipped to the end to see what the asking price was (in which
case I do recommend you do actually read what you are getting.
I did say OBO, so go ahead and make an offer. I am pretty
tough to offend, so don’t stress about that. Please do understand that
something like $200 isn’t going to take this. I am also not interested in
    parting this out.
If a part out were to happen, I would request a lump sum
of payment from a designated person and it will be up to that person to
distribute the goods. The reason for this is I am just not home enough to make “shopping”
at my place viable, and Sofiya doesn’t know enough about the tank to make it
    work.
I will get some pics up as best I can here shortly. Anyone
is free to come by and take a look at the tank; just PM me and we will find a
time when at least Sofiya is home.

Good luck Bela. While it is sad too see you leave I am betting you will have a great time in Boston. Good luck with your sale as I am sure anyone who is lucky enough to get this will find they are getting one heck of a deal.

    PRICE UPDATE

AJ wanted the MACNA tickets, and since he was the first to speak up and they are a simple transfer, they are his.

FULL SETUP IS NOW $1,000 on the nose. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif

Please do not message me about parting out guys... I stated multiple times that is not my intention. Anyway, if I did end up parting the logical thing would be for me to sell all livestock and everything "wet" and keep all tank hardware to get set up in Boston when we are ready. The equipment itself is not that difficult to load onto a moving truck.

    THANKS! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/biggrin.gif

I forgot to mention I have a couple misc things that I will throw in as well. I have a korallia powerhead that I use for mixing salt that could probably be used instead of the mp10 if you were so inclined. I belived its around 700gph. Also have two TLF phosban reactors and a sack of biopellets that will last a year. I ran some for a while (I tossed the used stuff) but took it off line with the new skimmer setup (I had a HOB for a little while). I have a 3/4 jusg of TLF activated carbon and a few other misc things as well. Will be home from work tonight around 9:30 and can get pictures started up then.

    Bump!

Seen Bela's setup in person and purchased some SPS frags from him. Wonderful tank and his pair of clowns are beautiful! 1k for the turnkey setup is a heck of a deal

Hey, thanks for the bump (and kind words)! /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif
I did ship the clowns to a good friend of mine back in California (he got me started in the hobby), who will be taking care of them and shipping them back my way once we get a tank back up and running in our new place. This likely will not be before summer 2013 though. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif
Here are some pics I promised :
Fair warning... all pics taken with an iPhone 4 camera... everything is WAYYYY more blue and washed out than in person (to the point that I almost feel posting pics of the tank will hurt the sale... literally)... you can also adjust the amount of blue and white you want via the controller.
FTS. The bucket on the right is the ATO. If you modified the bucket or used a different one you could get it under the stand. The way I have it is easier to setup and a control temp with evaporative cooling, and dose kalk to keep the calium levels in check, so this was the most convenient setup for me)
The hood. Looks stock doesn't she? /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/smile.gif
    [IMG]
Added fans and eggcrate to facilitate cooling, when needed. I have them set to go on when tank temp hits 78.2
    [IMG]
Lights. You can't really see them in the pic. Sorry. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/sad.gif
    [IMG]
MP10w ES (it is labeled so my fish-sitter could make sense of what I tell her on the phone, in case of an emergency)

MP10 wet and dry sides (that's the TLF magnet algae cleaner there next to it)

Meanwell Dimmable LED Drivers (inside project box) I had the project box attached with velcro (like the controllers) but it was too heavy. I need to attach it with something more heavy duty, perhaps even a large "sheet" of velcro would be ok.

I didn't snap pics of the food, salt, carbon, etc. etc. If you need a pic, I can do that. Believe me, it's all there. You will get enough food and salt to take care of the tank for a year, EASILY. /DesktopModules/ActiveForums/themes/_default//emoticons/wink.gif
Can also take pics of the reactors (calcium reactor and 2x TLF phosband reactors) spare pumps, and anything else I got laying around here.

Right now I have someone that wants to have a look at the setup. If I ended up parting with livestock it wouldn't be until the end of summer. No sense in breaking down the tank web I can enjoy it for another few months. If that happens I will likely sell everything "wet" and keep all hardware so that I can get set back up in our new place when the time is right and essentially only need to buy livestock again.

Oh hey, didn't even notice this. Thanks, that is very kind of you. I might take you back up on the offer. We have so much going on with the house hunt right now that the last thing in my mind is figuring out a date to get back up and running. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later though!
